The sewerage system is now con structed on Pollock Street from Neuse river to Fleet street and the large foroe of hands were engaged yesterday in in working from that point to Broad. Down Broad street will be the next portion built. The large steam pleasure yacht "Naphtha," to be used at Moiehead through the season, is now there. The smaller one, the "Junior," is at Nev Berne but will very soon go down. They are both from Chicago and arrived hero on one of the steamers of the N. N. & W. Direct Line. The membership of the New Berne Yacht Club is making preparation for an elegant social gathering at the Club House on Friday. There will be musio, boat-naming contest, refreshments, social games, rowing and sailing. All friends of tbe Club are invited and will reoeive a most cordial weloome. Bryan, one of the New Berne direc tors, baa been seleoted as one of the two Vioe-Presidents cf the road, and Hon. Franois D. Winston, of Windsor, Bertie oounty, has been appointed Solioitor for the road. At the solicitation of Vice-President Bryan and Direotor Thos. A. Green, who have been urging New Berne's op portunities upon the company for the last two months, General Manager C. H. McKibbea came down to t'.ke tne matter up with ths people of Nw Berne, and he has been called upon by the representative men of the city ar.d the Interest cf tbe coramuiily in this connection laid beforo him. The railroad people want a subscrip tion of $150,000 in bonds in tbree equal installments, running 25 years at 5 per oent, the first installment to be paid when the ties are laid on the portion of the road between here and Washing ton, then one when the iron'is laid, the third when the trains are running over tbat portion. The sentiment of the meeting was strong in favor of a through line but it was not considered that this would guarantee anything exoept the part spoken of. The general sentiment cf tbe meet ing was in favor of a modioation pro posed by Hon. F. M. Simmons, that one installment be paid when the road was completed to Washington, another in stallment on its completion to Norfolk, and the other on its completion to Charleston.
