Mr. Jones, of Louisville, Ky., ar rived last night and preached with fine effect at the Church of Christ. He is an able man and one of the Faculty of Ham ilton Female College. He is here in the interest of the College. Mr. Jones is a native North Carolinian but he moved to Lexington, Ky., soon after the close of the war. This is the 33d excursion these gentlemen have run from Ooldsboro to Morehead, and they generally carry good crowds. Much of this is due to the low rates which they inaugurated with the com mencement of their excursion business and have maintained ever since, The charge is only 50 cents the round trip from New Berne to Morehead. The ex cursion will start back at four o'clock tomorrow afternoon and arrive here at 6:10 p.m. Special rates for board were secured at Morehead for the excursion ists, and arrangements mode with the boatmen to take parties of excursionists to the surf and return for 10 cents each. They will live in the house on Broad atreat formerly used as the Epis copal rectory. Big Excursion to the Colored Fair. The Sugar Bill Meetings. The out-door prayer meetings, conduct ed by Rev. J. F. Butt at Sugar Hill, Sunday afternoon, was attended by fully 150 people. In the meeting there were Missionary Baptists, Free Will Baptists, Disciples, Methodists and Presbyterians. Several gospel talks were made, and a collection was taken up as a nucleus of a fund wherewith to build a cheap taber naclc in the neighborhood. In addition there were over 100 peopli ou the outskirts who were as attentive and seemed to enjoy the meeting as heartily as any one. Impressions of Trenton.
