'over v. j urn.,.' in the lwn- wnr.-l t 'n lie took noma v ith him to Jack Fatal Lightaisg. v During a severe thunder storm which prevailed at Jacksonville, Tuesday after noon, the 4th Inst, about 8 o'clock a nero employee of tho large saw mill there was killed while standing by a post in the planing mill. , A mule, the property of George Petaway, col., was also killed at .the depot. There was ah interval of about a quarter of an hour between the fatal, flashes and the man waa. about 800 yards from the court bouse on one shfe and the mule almut tbe same distance from it on the other. The flash which killed the man was a severe one and the shock to those near 1 terrible. Mr. Geo. D. tiordner. formerly of New Berne was setting up one of the planing machines about thirty feet from where the man was killed and some of the splinters from the post struck. him on the neck but without injury. J, Baxter returned to Morehead. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. C. Davis of Beau fort who have been visiting their married daughter in Washington, D. C. spent a short t.me with their daughter, Mrs. C. R. Thomas in the city, and returned home last night accompanied by their little daughter MisaEtta who has been making . a protracted visit to Mrs. Thomas. Mrs. Dey, of Beaufort, who has been visiting in Goldsboro also returned to her home in Beaufort last night. Mr. John G. Rowe of New York who has been engaged in putting in the addi tional plant at the Gas Works left for Tallahassee to look after one to be put in there. Watson dh 700 acres of land valued at $2,000, situated on Trent road, NOT S Township, for tho year 1892, be remitted and the same charged to H. R, Bryan and C. Dowd. It appearing that a division of said land has been made by order of court, and that said H. R. Bryan and C. Dowd arc the owners of one-half of said land. Ordered, That J. W. Harrcll be al lowed to remove his place of business as a retail liquor dealer from the building north of Watson & Daniels ice house to the store on west side of Middle strec two doors north of S. H.
