Hall have been tested since their arrival )wd found to show up very well. As they are Co lumbian Exposition scenes they come in very appropriate at this time when so much interests centres in this notable ex hibition. The S. W. They drove out first to Bellair and stopped at Beech Grove church grove lor refresh ments, consisting of iocs, cream and cake, &c. and then went up on Washington road, a distance of thirteen miles. Mrs. L. II. Cutler was the chaperon of the party. The State papers have been liberal in deed in their remarks about New Berne, its resources and her people. Indeed we believe that no place has ever been ac corded so much praise and honor as our tair city as has been, occasioned by the securing of the Convention in New Berne. Good results nro bound to accrue and the next few years will give evidence of that account. Enaine No. 1, the old "Governor Bragg" which has been in the A. & N. C R. R. shops for several weeks past took her trial trip up the road yestorday. Sho worked splendidly, making the return trip often miles inside of twenty minutes. This is the first engine that ever turned a wheel ou the A. & N. C. R. R., and though she has been on duty for thirty- five yeirssho does good service" yet. Coming and tiolag. Mr. J. F. Bra gaw and Miss Maud Amyette were united in marriage at Christ Episcopal church. The Maid of Honor was Miss Annie Bragaw, of Washington, sister of the groom. The other bridismaids were Misses Emma Disosway, Laura Hughes and Mary Oliver. The groom's best man was Mr. H. G. Wood, of Edenton, with Dr. C. O'. H. Laughinhouse.of Washing ton, Mr. W. W. Clark of the city and Mr. T. M. Lee, of Clinton, as groomsmen. Messrs. E. K. Bishop, Churchill Bra gaw, Carl Richardson and B. S. Guion acted as ushers. The ceremony was a beautiful one. A neat ana pretty double: arcti ot roses grading from white and light pink of the inner semicircle to deep pink of the outer one, from which was suspended a bell of white lillics and rock races with a clap per of amaryllis stood in front of the altar. Under this the bridal couple stood. At the rear of the altar was a white dossal covered with lilies and ferns and in front of this were other lovely flowers in just sufficient quantity to make every point tasty and complete. Rev. T. M. N. George, rector of the church, performed the ceremony and Miss Lilian Roberts, the accomplished daugh ter of Mr. Geo. II. Roberts, presided at the organ. The large church was crowded with friends of ehe contracting parties. The bride was one of the prettiest and most popular young ladies of the State and the groom, an excellent young man is a promising yjung lawyer and the present city attorney. First Train In PollocksvIIIe. Tuesday May 16th was a memorable day for Pollocksville. At that time the long wished for railroad at that point became a reality and the first train of the Wilmington, New Berne and Norfolk railroad ran into the village. It was however only the construction train but wc understand that the regular passen ger train will be put on in a few day. The last half mile ot the railroad that was built atPollocksvillo was constructed in remarkably quick time, cross-ties were laid rails put on and the train running on it in four hours. The construction force is now at Pol locksville building an L switches, &c. The work of construction is being rapidly pushed and it will not be many weeks before New Berne will be reached. The opening of this road is a great thing for this entire section. Immense tracts of very valuable timber will be come, hitherto (hard to reach easily accessible and the trucking indus try will receive a new impetus by reason uf fertile farms hitherto too isolated for crops requiring speedy transportation being put within easy reach of a well equipped railroad. We all look forward with interest to the coming of the road and many a New Bernian has promised himself a riie over at the earliest opportunity after it reaches the city. A Big Cabbage Crop. Hackburn & Willett are doing immense ly on cabbage shipments this season. They have shipped thus far 6000 crates. Yesterday they got 1100 and one day previously they sent off 1050. These are the largest shipments of cabbage from one farm that ever left the city. To appreci ate the size of thore shipments it must be remembered that these are barrel crates. Truck Quotation. The following tiuck quotation was re ceived by telegraph last night from Messrs. Palmer & Rivenburg of New York: Cherries N. C. blacks fancy 25 to 30c; strawberries, 9 to lOcts; cabbages, $1.25 to 1.75; peas Edenton $1.25 to $1.75; others 75 to $1-00. Rev- A. C. and Thos. Dixon. Both of the troihers, A.
