We the undersigned jurors summoned by the coronor of Craven county May 23d 1893 to ihvestigate the death of Win. Mc Coy who was killed Monday night May 22d, 1893, do find after viewing the body and demanding a post-mortem examination that said McCoy came to his death from a bullet wound in the heart due to a 32 calibre bullet. We further find from the testimony that said McCoy was killed by a parly or parties unknown to us. We further find that Huttie McCoy and Cassy Morton were accessories to the crime before the fact. Signed, J. J. Tolson.tl. D. Bowden, R. P. Williams, Ed Bangert, W. N. Pugh, C. 8. Bell, jury. R, S. Primrose, Corrinor Craven County. The testimony of some of the last witnesses was to the effect that the deceased and his wife did not live happily together and that she had threatened to have him killed. The two colored women, Hattic Mc Coy and Cussy Morton were placed in jail to await trial. At Hyde Court. One interesting ease tried at Hyde couu ty court was that of a Bint brought by Mr. Growers against his brother-in- law, Mr. Napoleon Satterwaitet for slan der, in charging him with incendiarism. Mr. Sattcrthwaic's bum was burned a year or more ago. Mr. Satterthwait consulted two fortune telling old women as to who did it and md they each told him it was a member of his family and they gave a description of the one they said was the party. From this with other circumstances Mr. Sat terthwait fastened upon his brother-in-law as the offender and so told the story- Thin occasioned the suit. Action was brought for $10,000 dama ges. 1 he jury awarded Mr. McLawlioiu $200 damages. Mr. Satterthwait whose barn was burned was a man of good haracter and one of the best citizens of the countv. There were quite a number ol cases brought up nt this term, but only a few were of any special interest and the at tendance on court was pronounced the niallest ol any held there. We previously mentioned some of the prominent attendants at the court. An additional one who was Mr. R. B. Creecy of the Elizabeth City Econo mist. Jefferson Davis' Funeral Train. Presbyterian "Chlldrens Day." The programme of "Children's Day'' a missionary festival was appropriately ob served Sunday in the Presbyterian church by order of the General Assembly. The singing was pleasing, the respon sive reading instructive and the half hour talk of the pastor, Rev. C. G. Yardell, as interesting to the little peo ple and as calculated to impress them for good as his usual sermons are to sim ilaly affect adults. In the lourao of the readings it was shown that tho Southern Presbyterian church has one hundred and six mission aries in the foreign work, laboring in China, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Cuba, Bra zil, Italy and tha Congo Free State and that there are nearlv a hundred native Uelplers preachers, colporteur, teachers and bible women working with the missionaries. - The number of new missionaries ready to go ont from the southern Presbyterian church this year is twenty-seven or more. This is the largest number ever before the church In one year. One of these new missionaries was a classmate of Rev. C. G. Vardell at Princeton. I BestJBread in the City.
