I was dreaming of candy and oranges did eat, While the object in my neighbors boue then he got creeping. I suppose; sonic nick nacks he left were quite sweet. Next morning when Big Ike awoke Irom his slumber. He went for his stocking and no time he did lose, A Successful Operation. The colored boy, Willie Jones, whose skull was broken by a spade so that a trephining operation was necessary, has gotten along remarkably well. There has scarcely been a sign of suppuration none whatever and the wound is healing -Ut up. A piece ot the skull bone, not quite as argc as the top ot an ordinary gouiei had to be removed a delicate operation, the dinger ot which was heightened by the fact that a piece ot the broken skull projected into the substance of the brain. Not a particle of suppuration ever ap peared about the the brum after the operation and tho wound is now healing up rapidly. The operation required several hours nnd was one of the best and most successful ever per formed iu tho city and reflects mucn aredit upon Drs. Primrose and Duguid who performed it. Watson and Miss Jennie Watson who have been spending a short time at home returned to Moreueaa. Messrs. Geo. Jones and Will Parson left for a brief stay at Beaufort. Mr. J. H. Lindsay ol Charlottesville has been elected President of the Vir ginia Press Association. Another North Carolinian honored. Greensboro has had a $40,000 fire. A large threestory brick store occupied by Sample S. Crown was burned. Insur- ance, $16,000. The World's Fair will be open today for the last time on Sunday. The Direc tors have changed their minds and de cided by a vote of 24 to 4 to close on Sundays.
