The Methodist Sunday School aril District conferences just held at Orifton have closed their labors. Each had satis factory attendance and did good work. Death of a Prominent Leimtr County Lady. We learn of (ho death at Kin ton of Mis. Susan Mewliorne, aged 8'J y-j..rs. Mrs. Mowborno was the mutiic of .' it. Jas.M. Mowboi ne who ran for Congress i this district three yea's ago an 1 who U a prominent member of the Farmers' Al liance. Mrs. Mewborne leaves a largo number of children, very many grind children and several great grand children. She 's the last child of ouo line of a family illustrious iu Lenoir and Greene couiuici. She was yory widely kuo vn and had as many friends its any other lady in her county. s might have been expected in one ol her advanced years Mrs. Mewborne hail been afflicted in health fir years but she bore everything with extraordinary forti tude. Tho predominating trait of her charac ter was cheerfulness under all circum stances. This was marked by all who knew her.
