Cliolcra is making rapid inroads into a number of Italian and French cities. A sad drowning affair has occurcd on Lake George Y. An entire pleasure party of eight yoimir ladies and one gentleman met a watery grave. All members of the Circle of King's Daughter's are requested tonect at the residence- of Mrs. Dad's, this afternoon at quarter past five o'clock to attend the funeral of Miss Katie Daniels. He went to jail in default of $100 bail to await tnal-at court We arc requested to call special atten tion to the fact (that the sudden drop in the price of pork a day or two ago wai not for sales requiring immediate de livery but for September futures and reaction carrying the price almost up to former figures occurred directly after wards; The death of Miss Katie Daniels of this city, though not unexpected was a sad occurrence. For several years her health had not been firm and for many months she had been gradually declining, so that when the last hour came it brought no surprise, even to herself. She had been accustomed to speak calmly of her ap proaching dissolution aud in the final moment yielded np her life without fear and with quiet resignation. We are glad to learn that there is possibility that the W. N. and N. Rail- load will run a train from Wilmington to New Berne next Wednesday (the 9th inut.)to accommodate thoso from that direction who would like ; to attend the great pony penning near Morehcad City on Thursday the 10th. . Dr. GF. W. It is because that is Where the new railroad crosses it, We are told that as a precaution against accidents it is the' universal practice on all railroads for each train to corns to dead stop before going over inch a cross ing and that generally there is a con spicuous post erected to call attention to the halting place. 1 ' ' Chsreh Service Centenary M.
