Drowned at tbe Straits. Mr. Will Owen, a young man of More- bead City, about seventeen years of age was drowned at the Straits, Carteret county Thuisdsy. When found be was lying in water only ' six or eight inches deep , face downward. He was sub ject to fits and the indication is that he ran his boat as close to tbe shore as the depth of the water at that place would permit and then started to wade the rest of the way and just then he was no doubt attacked bv one of the fits with the fatal consequences. The Nantucket was a formidable ves sel during the Civil war, and she took part iu tbo bombardment at Fort Fisher, Charleston, Port royal, etc. Her turret beau deep scars wliero twelve cannon balls suck hie. We are told that most of tl"m were inflicted at the battle of Fort Fiiher in January, 1865. She has the oiiginal engines she had during the war.
