It is dangerous and against the city ordinance. Mr. Q, L. Clark wishes to announce that owing to the Railroad not famishing an extra train where by the excursionists could remain in Wilmington longer than the regular passenger train, which is about two hours, that the trip proposed for Thursday would be abandoned. On Monday night 2d inst., Mr. J as. Boulangis lost bis wife aged 27 by death. The previous day (Sunday) the infant child died. They were both buried at Bayboro. The child was taken there on Monday and before those who went with tbe corpse were back the mother likewise was dead. Mr. W. H. Oliver who was one of the delegates to the Pan American Silver Convention beiug held at . St. Louis bus appointed Capt. F. T. Bryan of St. Louis his proxy to represent him in.the conven tion. The convention will continue several days. It began yesterday. Mr. E. W. Taylor of Beaufort came in on the steamer New Berne. Mr. Taylor was on board the schooner R. A. Snyder of Philadelphia which was greatly damaged and came near being wrecked in the storm of Aug. 27. While the vessel was in the storm, Mr. Taylor received injuries to his knee and hip, owing to which he has been in the marino hospital on Staten Island ever since. He is now however getting all sound again. Mr. J. W. Moore has had a large and pretty time table of the two railroads and two Northern steamer lines painted and erected in front of his place of business. He plans also to have a tele phone communication with the headquar ters of the lines and then put on pointers indicating whether the trains are on time or late and if late how much. This will be quite a convenience to the business people of she vicinity. . ' From' the ; Atlanta Constitution we take the following : "A' life convict, John H. Blunt, one of the most notorious convicts that the State of Georgia has ever known, passed through the city, ia charge of Capt. Staines,- yesterday en route to the Dade coal mines. Hunt was heavy manacled, having his legs, arms and neck encased in iron. Hunt goes tip as a life time convict and1 his ' record of .crimes would fill a column. Be killed a man in Caldwell, N. Isaac Hicks, an old colored man' was, bitten about two miles from, town a day or two ago by two large' dogs that, were lying in the road as he was passing.. . The Directors of the East Carolina Fish Oyster Game and Industrial Asso ciation held their regular meeting yester day afternoon and decided to hold the next exhibition the entire week commenc ng Monday, February 19th and ending Saturday February 24th. Notwithstanding the high position the, T'air linn attained, the dirctora are still aiming for higher achievements. A Dortion of the work vesterdav was to begin definite plans for the races. In tli'- matter of rce premiums every previous exhibjtion has "been seen and gone one better." Two thoutand Jive huwh-cd dollars is the amount that ttill be giten next year in this department alone and the terms of entraacewill be such as are ease to comply with4so evory race can reasonably be expected to come off. The programme of races is being made np and will in all probability be finished today. It has also been decided to have bal loon ascensions again and an immense display of fire works. Moreover there will be a great many new features added of which mention will be made 1.9 they are provided for. Now that tho Fair is assuming definite shape and the time drawing nlgh,let every one work for it with increased ictivity. Now is the time, especially for our farm ers to put asido bales of hay of various kinds, selected ears of corn, good stalks of cotton, specimens of the staple, and all other products of this season. Now Jis Hie timo to put them aside so tho best will be saved. Keep the Fair in mind and plan and work for it, and make it, as it always has, eclipse all former ef forts. This will bo done. Waters returned from Ral cigh while he has been attending Superi or court. Rev. C. G. Vardell and wife and Master C. Q Vardell returned Fayette- villelast night.. Rev. W. G. Vardell, father of Rev. C. G. Vardoll also arrived to visit him. Mrs. John Hughes, Miss Jennie Hughes and Mrs. McKNash returned from Ashc- Vilie. The following ladies who have been attending theMissionary conference left for their homes yesterday : Mrs. F. D. Swindell, of Goldsboro and Mrs. J. R. Brooks, of Reidsville from Mr. Geo. Hen derson's; Mrs. R. H. Whitaker from Capt. A. B. Powell's; Mrs. R. P. Howell, of Goldsboro from Rev. R. V. Willis', and Miss Emma Pace and Mrs Creele, of Greensboro from Mr. T. A Greeo's. The steamer Neuse of the E. C. D. line took out the following passengers: Mr. M. Hahn on a Northern trip to visit relatives and possibly the Worlds Fair and also to buy a few fine horse to 'fill four or five special orders, Ma and Mrs, J. W. Biddle and Mr. Frank. Duffy to visit the World Fair. Rev. L. H. Hardy, of Newport, passed through en route to attend tbe annual meeting of the Contentnea Association of Primitive Baptist which convenes Satur day at Galloway meeting house twelve miles from Greenville. There have been several deaths lately in our community, Mr. Daniel Finer of Sneeds Ferry lost his w ife last week also Mr. J. A McC'ale of Marines lost his daughter, Annie, a few days ago. A man by the name of V. H. Young who has been selling medicine in this county tor the past two years, died two or three woeks ago near Marines. He claimed to have a wife and family in Virgiuu but their address is not known. Mr. It. L. Brock's closed hisfsliool at New River Academy last Friday. Mr. E. M.Koonce, our County Super intendent, opened his school last Monday at Jacksonville. Mr. D. B. Morton is teaching in Swans bo ro. The public school at Marines Academy was expected to open soon, but on ac count of so much sickness in the neigh borhood it has lieen postponed. Our Shell Fish Commissioners have been busy for the past week locating os ter grounds for parties up alwmt Kinston. Some speculation in oyster bottoms taking place occasionally, though very quietly.
