A correspondent " writes us from New River that the schooner Katie Edwards, Capt. J. F. Moore was driven ashore on the beach near New river Inlet by the gale on Tuesday night the 8d inst. The cargo, consisting ofjfgcDeral merchandise, principally for B. . F. Hall & Co. of Jacksonville, was all saved by the fish' ing crew without being damaged. The vessel Is not off yet, and is suppos ed to be damaged very badly. Mies Zinkie Swindell, daughter of Mr. W. B. Swindell, has returned Irom a three months visit to Hyde county. A Novel .Musical Entertainment To Mght. Mr. II. B. Hardy of the Raleigh North Carolinian being in tho city will kindly giy one of bis entertainment tonight. It .will be entirely original and novel, some thing never heard in our city before, Several peices of original composition that has as vet never even been written will lie rendered' using the harp and ano at the same time. I' Mr. Hardy will also render his whis tling act with one hand and playing the accompaniment with the other at tbe same time. Some amusing and laugha ble songs will be sung during the even- log. (ttlier musical novelties will also be introduced. The entertainment, throughout will be moved and elevating in its tone as every one who is acquainted with or has ever heard Mr. Hardy well knows. B Flanner. and while we bow in bumble sub mission to His all-wise will and, while we know that He doeth all things for the good of those who love and serve Him, we cannot but deplore tbe loss of one who witti so short an acquaintance was so deeply loved and respected. In her loss her husband has been be reaved of a loving wife, her little son Willie, a friend whose place cannot be filled and the neighborhood a happy christian character, whose example 'twould be well to follow.
