The tickets to tbe recent boxing match that came off in New Berne read "between Edward Wurphy, of Norfolk" etc. Yet ws have information from Norfolk that there is no such personage as Edward Murphy prize-fighter, known to tbe sporting fraternity of that city. We have also a letter from Greenville, N. C, which belew wj lay before our readers: Edttob Jocrbal : "On Saturday night. Sept 80, 1 wss awakened by Mr. Murphy, who at tbe time was drunk, but representing himself to be a cigar drum mer from New York, I aduiittrd bim to a room. On Sunday morr.ii: Ii'. HpH-ared in the onire ol my Hotel at 11 o clock sou ssked what time the next trim would arrive from Rock y Mount, a be expi cted his wife to come un iu tint train. Upon lcing questioned some about his late ar rival the n'ght before he stated that be had a fight in Tarboro which cost him 170.00 sod he was afraid to stay there, and seemed to exhibit son some uneasi ness for fesr of being telegraphed for from Tarboro. On Mondsy morning he ate breakfast and walked out of the dining hall and the next I beard of him was in your pa per of Oct. 12th. He left me a legacy ol $2.25 which you may have if you can col lect. I am glad CrBven county is feeding him, as I am sure it is more able to do it than I am. lioping he may have a good rest from his pugilistic labors. 1 am yours very resp't, Chabi.es Ss.'NNEA, Proprietor Hotel Macon, Greenville, N. C Though such lacts as the above are developing there are some who thought at the time of tbo trial that Magistrate Street made Murphy's bond unnecessarily high when be placed it at three hundred dollars while others thought, it ouL'ht to have been nt least a thousand, In look iug at one way, considering that this class of people rarely have more than enough to take them from one town to another, even the small bond fixed upon means considerable. And, even those who would be willing to go on such a bond know that it means that much cash out, and but few are willing to part from that amount of money in such a way. It is now more strongly established tban e cr that Murphy is of the migra tory class. No place has been established as his home. Here he claimed to have come from Norfolk, but he has not be-n acknowledged there and at Greenville he claimed to be of New York, while there are indications that he is of Richmond. More About the Wrecks. A Carteret county correspondent writes us as follows: "The storm did consider oble damage along tbe coast and sound Copt. John BJoodgood in the flat Mav Queen was blowed on tbe shore high up in Mr. R. II. Humphrey's field. She was loaded with cottou and naval stores for New Berne. The cargo went over board but was saved, The flat is still high and dry. "The large schooner Jenny R. Tomlin sou from New York bound to New Berne went ashore on the beach about five miles east of Hogue bar on Friday even ing of the storm. She is a splendid, new three master and is at this writing (Oct 16tM high on the beach buried in the sand about 6 feet. She was looded with phosphates and ka'nit, ber captain, John Tomlinson,1hinks she can be gotten off, a very large crowd of visitors was on to see her Sunday. It was a great pity for the owners, as she was a fine vessel only 2 years old and well built, only a short while back the C. C. Davison, owned by the same firm was lost on Virginia beach a total loss we hear. 'The large three masU d schooner John W. Hall, bound to Swansboro is sup posed to be lost. "Capt. Buckmaster, schooner Frank Hall, lost 2 anchors in saving his schoon er. This was tbe worst storm on our coast in 80 years." Another special telegram to the Jots- hal from Beaufort brings the following account of yet another wreck: Bkaufob. N. C, Oct 17th Schooner Maggie Andrews, lumber laden from Darien for Providence stranded twenty miles north of Cape Lookout ;VS8sel and cargo total loss, theciew were saved. Taos. DtjHOAH. Death ot Mr. 8. D. Black. A telegram Tuesday announced the death of Mr. Samuel IX- Black, son of Ret. W. 8. Black superintendent of the Oxford Orphan Asylum, at bis home in Oxford. ' He was about 83 years of age and had spent the greater part of the pres ent year in New Berne. ' Mr. Black was passionately fond of flue horses, and a few years ago he was at (racted to the New Berne Fairs and has been a regular , attendant at them ever since . At the time of the last Fair he identified himself with the city and spent the summer, with Messrs. Haokburn A Willett :', - a.-:.. - - " , A; few weeks ago ho left for a trip in Virginia and Maryland, and While awy he was attacked- by typhoid, fever. , He then went to his homo but died about week afterwards. ;' X" ''7 4;? Tbe qneatioo baa beea asked through tbe Joubkax ,wbich of tlx t fare cborcbes in New Berne, namely, tbe CuurcD of Const, Christ Cliorcb, or the Church of God is the Church wbicb Jeatus said, I will build upon this mck; To which sn in correct answer has hreo given, tbst tbe Church ef God is known as tbe Adveotist. Churches can only be known by the name in which they organize, snd in which there Church property is recorded. Paul once calkd the Church which Jrsos said ill build upon Ibis rock, tbe Cliuich of tbe first burn, once the Churches ol Christ, and again be said ye are Christs snd, Cbrists is Gods. The name, Christs Church is not once found in the Apostles writing. Paul in welve texts oalleu tbe Cuurcb, the Church, and Churches of God. Such being God's family name whereby he named bis household. A Church ia not properly, called the Church of God un less it is so organized and having all tin- ordinances which the Lord committed to is Apostles. The communion of Saints was instituted at night, and so observed by the early christians, and consisted in ret washing one-another s leet.sec onl in taking the emblems of our Lord's broken body and sbe -1 blood. All tl e early christians were added to the Church ol God by trine immersion. Single immersion was introduced in the fourt i century by Eunomius wbo was made Bishop of Cyszicus, Spain in the ear of 300 and was expelled from the Church for corrupting Holy Baptism. The backward action in baptizing was ntroduced in tbe I8th century by the English Baptists, who are now known as lie Pnmitivo Baptist. The people known as Adventists do not commune according to the word of God, snd they Baptize with the Baptism which was ntroduced by tbe hnglisb Baptists, and they do not organize in God's family name nd tliey are therefore not the Church ol God.
