The Ocean Blues Have Left. The big "ocean blues' which put in their appearance a few weeks ago off our coast seem to have departed as suddenly as they came, and the general impression of those most competent to judge is that they are gone for the season. "Tramps of the ocean" a designation often applied to these magnificent fish seems to be a very appropriate one. They come and go according to their own sweet will and the thing to do is to be ready and reap a rich harvest when 'hey maketheif appearance. Mr. E. W. Moore who is travelling to and Iro between the main fishing place in the interest of the commission firm of li. W. Davis & Co. has lieen down about Roanoke Island. lie , informs us that in one day about three weeks ago there were shipped from Roan oke Island wharf, Hog Island and Hut terns,! 31, 115 ilnd 462 boxes, (two hun dred poundjones) of these fish, a total of 708 boxes. The Charlotte News gives the following wide range of articles brought into Char lotte by a Mecklenburg county man. Talk about diversified farming, but this is faming, poultry raising and gold mining all together. We will guarantee he is one farmer who will always have a plenty. The News says; "Mr. R. C. Give as Accurst Reports ef Crop Yields We am always glad to get repoits of crop yields, but when figures are given it should always be distinctly slated wheth er they are estimates or actual meas urements the latter is the most desir abls, of course, and if jmcasuremejls are given they should be given with accu recy to rcnelar them valuable. We have been told of one man who bragged on an extraordinary yield of a certain sized plat of ground; but when the root of the matter was gotten at it was found that the ground was nieaur ed (7) by a strapping x footer stepping it ofl with giant-like strides, nuking it appear a third or so smaller than it really was.
