It is undee.lood here that Cleveland and Carlisle are in perfect accord as re gnrds the- amended tariff hill. Senator Hill has regained much of his lost popu larity by his efforts in reg ird to having Seiiaoria! iiivesiigaiions made wilo open doors. II he would now abolish execut ive sessions of the Senate he would win Ihe gratitude of the con iitrv. The bed informed politicians here think Ilie tariff bill will become a law bv July 1st. li lt the pass ego of the tariff bill cinuot be iiinncdialcly lollowed by the ailjou'-niiieut of Congress, as a good many people seem to think. On the con trary, some lime must be occupied in the consideration of the appropriation bills of which twelve have lieeu sent over to the Senate from tho House. Of these twelve only three Military Academy, pen sions, and fortifications have been report ed, leaving nine still in the Committee of Appropriations. The House has two still to pass the Indian and hie General deficiency. While these bills will undoubtedly be hurried through when they are reached, they cannot be passed much faster than one every two days, and this will occupy all the ' working days of a month. Tiie bills ajo now bciog put in shape by the Senate Appropriations Committee, so that they can ue rapidly reported when ever the way is made clear tor them. The Congress of Physicians and Surg eons held in this city this week, oiler a very successful session. The members were given a reception at the White House by the Presidcut and Mrs. Cleve land.
