Rev. Robert Anderson, a superannuat ed colored Methodist preacher, of San dersville, Ga., is in the city, selling his auto-biography. The book is a cloth bound volume of 196 pages, and contains also some ot the author's sermons. The writer believes he is the first colored man who ever wrote out his life at length. He informs ns he was born a slave but pur chased 'the freedom of both himself and wife. He was enabled to do this by his o.wner allowing him to have all he could make beyond a certain amount After be secured his freedom he accumulated property to the amount of 14,000 by the time of the outbreak of the war. Why is it that some people in spite qf all that can be said, send anonymous com munications to newspapei s ? Even it the writer had never seen an announcement that' the name of the uuthor of anything inserted, in a paper is always wanted, it would stem that ones' own judgment and reflection would cause him to realize ' that the. same is always wanted. It is at least as much due to a newspaper aa in - correspondence sent to an individual. Bat . it does not seem to be so realized, v and we- sometimes leave out aitfcles in . themselves worthy, of appearing iimply because the writer failed to let himself be known; The came is not wanted nece-v ' airily . for publication, bat b-cause the source of everything published should be Coming and Uoinx Rev. From the date of her birth it, will be seeu that Mrs. 'Jell was forty years old when the de"lariuation of Independence was made and that she lived to 1 36 the Constitution of 1833 become the funda mental law ol North Carolina. There are but few persons buried there who had lived through more exciting sceues than this amiable woman. She must have joined the Church just aoout the close of the Revolutionary War and among the earliest Methodists of this vicinity. This tomb is on the same section as is the vanlt of Mr. J. L.
