Alderman Blades referred to the resolution previously passed to pay off j some of the bills of this department, and further stated that the Department was at work on a scale of prices for . watca and .light, and that this would proDably be completed by the Recess meeting to be held Thursday night. - ; Streets nad Pumps. Alderman Ellis, Chairman, reported that the Rue Chapel Church and the - blacksmith shop matter had been investigated thoroughly and it was found ' by the map made -by the engineer and offered by Alderm'n Ellis at this meeting ' that both of the above places wereloca- ted on City property r Alderman Blades moved that the owners of these two pieces of property be notified to move both of them; ; that they were on the" Mty property, : giving them legal notice to vacate, and if they did not voluntary vacate, that legal action be taken to urge , them to move off the highways. t Alderman ' Disosway seconded the motion.- Motion carried. .Alderman Ellis stated that it was - time something was being done in re t gard to tell rebuilding of the wharf .at the foot of Pollock street in order that it be in good condition for the Fair. Alderman Hyman moved that the : .matter of the wharf at the foot of Pol- - lock street be referred to the wharves and Docks Committee with power to . act if the cost of rebuilding does not exceed $200.00, and report back at the next meeting. Moore in reference to the "Gem," ; and he stated that his house had sixteen rooms; : that his rates were $2.00 per day for -transient and $40.00 by the month. Alderman Satterthwaite reported that he had investigated the Marinet Railway operated by C C. Stewart and that the hauling capacity was very -. small; that he makes about two hauls a week at about $3.00,' and he is State Agent, he says, for a Gasolene engine and his commission amounts to about $7.00, his -commission being 20 per cent., that he has one in stock at this time. His railway tax . is assessed at $40.00. . ' . , . - Alderman Satterthwaite recommend ed that he be subject to tax for selling engines, of $10.00 and $10.00 for Marine railway. : - - ' ' Alderman Ellis moved that alt Mar ine Railways of a capacity of anything up to 10 tons be taxed $10.00 and any thing above ten tons $50.00. Spencer's cars, for tax on marine railway be reduced to $10.00. Motion seconded and carried.
