All members of the Board voting in : the affirmative, the motion was adop , ted. Alderman Ellis requested that with bo objection he be allowed to revert ; back to the Water and Light Commit tee. Alderman Blades moved the adoption ' of the following ordinance: ' ; Be it ordained by the Board of 'Aldermenvof the City of New Bern: Section 1. That Chapter 22, Section 1, of the Ordinances of the City be amended by striking out paragraphs "First," "Third" and "Fourth," and inserting in lieu thereof, the following: Schedule of Meter Rates for Electric Department. First: First 25 K.aW. H. per month at 10c per K. W. H. Next 75 K. W. H. per month at c per K. W. H. Next 300 K. W. H. per month at Sc. per K. W. H. Next 600 K. W. H. per month at 7c. per K. W. H. For Moving Picture shows a rate of 7c per K. W. H. shall be made for all interior lighting and apparatus. A minimum charge of 50 cents per Month from which no discount will be allowed shall be made on all lighting accounts and each meter shall be con sidered a separate account and no combination of meter readings shall be alloewd in order to secure the benefit of the lower rates. The city will furnish and own all meters and will, hereafter, make no meter rental charges. Second. Flat Rate Lighting: All show windows, Electric signs and Exterior Decorating Lighting will be given a flat rate figured on a basis of 5c. per K. W. H. from dusk to 11:00 p. m. and is such lights are burned all night, the rate from 1 1 :00 p. m. to morning will be on a basis of 3c. per K. W. H. . All switches controlling such light ing installations are to be arranged en outside of premises and lights are Nine hours' warmth for a single gallon of oiL Can be carried wherever needed. All meters-shail be read, as far as possible, between the 22nd and 27th of . each month and bills for electric current shall be mailed out on the first of the month. ' ,- Fourth. Discounts; v"i,- , f A discount of 10 per cent, shall be allowed on all electric and 5 per cent, on all water bills when paid not later than the 10th day of the month follow ing that during vwhich the. . electric current or water ' was used Failure to receive a bill shall not entitle- con sumers to receive discount after the 10th of the month. , -' ' ; When checks are mailed for the pay ment of Water and Light Bills with discount deducted, and the post mark shows date of mailing to be later than the 10th, all such checks shall be returned and the account will have to be paid in full. Fifth. Discontinuation of Service. Service shall be discontinued on all water and light accounts which are unpaid on the morning of the 15th of. the month in .which they are due, and will not be turned on again until each account has been paid in full, and an additional charge of 50 cents each for turning on and off. Sixth. Power Rates. Electric current for power purposes shall be sold at the following rates: First 1,000 K. W. H. per month at 4c per K. W. H. Next 1,000 K. W. H. per month at 3 l-2c. per JC. W. H. i Next 1,000 K. W. H. and over at 3c. per K. W. H. These rates are subject to a 10 per cent, discount under the same condi tions as those for lighting. A minimum charge jof 50 cents per month per H. P. of rated capacity of motors installed shall be charged, from which there shall be no discount. The city may require the installation of single phase motors in capacities of 5 h. p. and less, in those parts of the city where there is not already three phase service, and where the revenue from such places will not justify the city to make three phase extensions. Single motor installations of 3 h, p. and smaller, may be required to be of the single phase type, in any or all places, except when used in connection with existing 3 phase installations and operated through same 3 phase meter. Motors of a capacity smaller than h. p. must be operated from the 1 regular lighting circuits and be subject to the same rates, except when such motors are used in connection with other large motors.
