This is ;a Warner Feature, . "A
Daughter of Pan," in three parts.
This picture's exhibition in this
city is distinctly notable from two
standpoints: It is starring Helen
Gardner, unquestionably the idol
of . the motion picture public,
and it is written and ; directed
by a former New Bernian.
The author ancl director of the
production is Charlie Gaskill, who
left New Bern about 10 or 12
years ago. Now, he is known as
Charles R. Gaskill, and is one
of the most famous motion pic
ture writers and directors in the
country, I ..
The happy combination of star
and author is remarkable, and

Mr. Gaskill. The latter writes
and directs exclusively for this
star, who is not so well known

states. Although his wife, Queen
Nethele, is beautiful, he loves i
Melessa, a wicked designingwoman
and it is her purpose to put away
the Queen and take her place.
. The King has selected as hus- j

Diomed, a rich young man. j
'"Jestyx, an old philosopher, one;

ants of the god Pan. Frightus,!
the wickedest of the tribe, we are
told, has eaten all his children,
except Dusa, his daughter, be
cause of ' her extreme ugliness.
Diomejd at once becomes inter
ested; ja Dusa and sets out for the
forest?'" Stfangp as it may seem,
Diomed becomes enamoured of
her.' Dusa also, is charmed in her
wild wayAlfbea torn with jeal

mands him to return to the pal

The. King sends for Eolyclotes,
a member sof the wild tribe, - to
abduct Dusa,'! but he refuses to
do sO." Thereupon, the King
dismisses him. Melassa taken by
his beauty invites Polyclotes to
enter her room. Just then the
King -appears, takes in the situa
tion at ;a glance and puts Poly

Dusa flees' Xtpvj the -forest. She
meets' Jestyx, the old philosopher.
He persuades her to return to the
palace and enter into a growing
lily, declaring that she will be
come beautiful. After many days,
she arises radiantly beautiful. A
multitude of things happen, as
though by magic. She obtains
the release of Polyclotes and they
return to . the forest and live hap-
wait for the next thing to happen
