Threaten Americans
Immediately after the news of the
landing of Americans at Vera Cruz
was made known in the capital by
extra editions of newspapers, crowds
of students and government office
employees began to gather. By duck
a mob had assembled in front of the
American club, where they smashed
windows and howled insults and threats
at American citizens inside, all of whom
they threatened to assassinate.
Some Mexican Extras.
The newspapers probably acting
under directions of Huerta issued
many extras in which they printed
dispatches stating EI Paso, Laredo,
Nogales and other places had beeji
taken by Mexicans. Other dispatch
es announced federal troops had gained
a great victory at Vera Cruz, where
they expected to surround.
Better one -Still.
The papers declared the Battle
ship Louisiana had been sunk by a
'north as soon as plans, specifications
, and material can be secured.
