NEW LIBRARY GUIDE
The University City and Re,gion-
al Planning Department Library
has recently published a booklet
showing what materials are avail
able in that library. The booklet
was prepared by Ruth L. Mace, a
graduate assistant in the Depart
ment.
Mack Watts showed color slides
of scenes and people of Carrboro
at yesterday afternoon's first
meeting of the Women’s Civic
Club for the new school year.
Hostesses for the occasion were
Mrs. Lucille Tilley and Mrs. John
McLaughlin. The Club will again
sponsor the Well Baby Clinic this
year on the first Wednesday of
each month at its Club house on
the Carrboro School grounds.
Mrs. Thomas Murray and Mrs.
William Fyfe are securing toys for
children up to the age of five to
play with at the clinic. Persons
who have toys they would be will
ing to give for this project are
asked to call Mrs. Murray or Mrs.
Fyfe. The Club also sponsores the
Town Library in the Clubhouse
which is open from 1:30 until 3
p.m. each Tuesday.
PTA Rummage Shop

With another schocd year be
ginning, the Carrboro PTA Rum
mage Shop had hoped to be oper
ating full swing—with many bar
gains for thrifty shoppers. As yet,
however-, they have been unable
to find a place to put the stock.
The Carrboro Cash Store building,
in which the shop operated during
the summer, is no longer available.
A plea is being sent out by the
PTA for available space so that the
rummage shop may resume opera
tions. Any information in this i-e-
gard should be directed to Mrs.
Bruce Ray or to Mrs. Claude
Baker.
EGYPTIAN VISITOR AT LIBRARY
Sobhy Grais of the Anglo-Egyp-
tian Publishing House was a recent
visitor to the University Library.
He is traveling under the auspices
of the United States State Depart
ment and visiting major libraries
and publishing firms.
MRS. SHAMBLEY TO GRADUATE
Mrs. Ola Shambley of Chapel
Hill will be one of 13 women who
will he graduated from the Watts
Hospital coui-se in practical nurs
ing this evening in a ceremony at
the Hospital in Durham. This will
be the fourteenth class to complete
the one-year program started in
1950.
