Franklin St. Hospital Auxiliary To Hear Dr., Mrs. Wells Df. and Mrs. Warner Wells will speak at the first meeting of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary here this Friday morning. Mrs. Fletcher Green, Auxiliary President, announced that the meeting will be held at 10:30 in the School of Nursing Auditorium. She invited newcomers in the community to attend the meeting and learn about the Auxiliary’s work in the Hospital, noting that Mrs. Raymond Kaighn,' Chairman of Volunteer Services and her aides, were anxious, to recruit some additional workers. Dr. and Mrs. Wells will speak on the program on their experiences during their stay in Japan, out of which came Dr. Wells’ translation of the “Hiroshima Diary.” Mrs. Gfreen wil preside and ciall on committee chairmen for reports on variocs phases of the Auxiliary’s work. Last Friday work began on the new church at New Hope. Sam Blackwood and Ernest Mauer with the help of John Ensign, Winston Strayhorn, Bob Strayhorn and Shelton Nunn started putting the bar-joists in place. On Saturday a work party was held to ffnish.the job of raising the bar-joists. On Monday Sam Blackwood, Ernest Mauer, John Ensign and Bill Bar ker started putting together the ceiling joists, a complicated busi ness if ever I saw one. With so many helping hands and a cheerring squad of helpless women, it looks as though building is really going forward at last. mi Shop Opposite Post Office Phone 4851 BAPTISTS TO MEET The annual business meeting of the congregation of the Baptist Church at Chapel Hill will be held tomorrow, beginning with a church supper at six o’clock. Members of the church will bring basket dinners and spread them in the church dining room. All student members will be guests of local church families. At 7:15 all of the 875 members of the church who are present will go up into the auditorium .for the an nual conference. Dr. Fted Ellis, Chairman of the Board of Deacons and. professor ;of pharmacology in the Medical School, will preside. LIBRARY EXHIBIT HONORS The University Library is cur rently exhibiting materials in hon or of the town of Bath, the oldest town in North Carolina, which is celebrating its 250 anniversary this first week of October. In three cases on the main floor the Library is exhibiting books, maps, pictures and clippings conserning the men, events and buildings of old Bath.
