The new brick and block build ing will contain about 2,500 .sqaure feet and will be approximately 45 feet across the front and 53 feet deep. Three overhead doors will open from the building directly onto the curb. Mr. Crabtree said he hoped to be in the new build ing within a month. The new plant will be equipped with Bear machinery for front end aligning and wheel balancing, ace tylene and electric welding, and all auto body repairs and painting. Mr. Crabtree has been in auto body work for 32 years, and has operated the Crabtree Body Shop independently for the last 10 years. For the last three and one- half years he has been located be hind Wilson’s Service Station on West Main Street in Carrboro. Thomas has become manager of Alexander’s Shoe Store here after two years in this capacity at the shoe department of J. B. Robbins. A r'esident of Durham, Mr. De ment attended the University of North Carolina, after which he Martha Joanne Peerman A daughter, Martha Joanne, was born to Mr. and Mrs. William Donald Peerman of 110 Caldwell Street on September 25 at Me morial Hospital. Mrs. Peerman is the former Otelia Cathaline Cooke of Halifax. Mr. Peerman is the coach at Lincoln High School. Sharon Sherlene Fearrington A daughter, Sharon Sherlene, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Norman Fearrington on Septem ber 19 at Memorial Plospital. They have two toher children. Mr. Fear rington is a cook at the Porthole. Mr. Dement said he would re model the interior of Alexander’s in the near future and increase the variety of merchandise by tak ing on new lines of shoes, particu larly in the women’s fashion line. Open shelves for display will also be set up along the walls. A representative of the Depart ment of State, John R. Garnett will visit the University on Tues day, to discuss opportunities for young men and women in the Foreign Service Officer Corps and in staff positions in the State De partment. Garnett, who is deputy chief of j the Employment Division, will j speak before classes in the Politi- I cal Science Department and before I a group meeting of all interested persons in Gardner Hall, Room 105, at 2 p.m. During the coming year over 300 positions abroad and in the United States will be filled. Beginning salaries range from $4400 to $5500. The Lincoln High Tigers took their third victory of the season on Friday afternoon, against Per son High School in Roxboro, 19-0. The Tigers scored first when Lincoln’s quarterback Winfred Johnson intercepted a pass and dashed 10 yards to give Lincoln a 6-0 lead.
