The Salk polio vaccine is now
availbale through private physic
ians in Chapel Hill, it was an
nounced yesterday, and pppoint-
ments for the administration ot
the shots to children between
the ages of five and nine are now
being taken. In about two weeks
the vaccinations will be available
to children from three to 11.
Physicians are recommending
that parents who wish their chil
dren to receive these shots have
the series begun now so that
the second shot one month later
and the final booster shot five
months thereafter can be given
before next summer's polio sea
son begins.

Hugh M. Wilson, dairy farmer i won prize money totalling $125 in

the weekend with 23 different
awards for six of his Ayrshire cat
tle which he exhibited at the Fair.'
Several other exhibitors from
this area received ribbons and
prizes, as listed below. Mr. Wilson
and open competition for senion
capturing the top awards in the
entire Fair showing for his six-
year-oldbull, “Good Old Landslide
B,” and for additional prizes given
a younger bull and several of his
heifers and a bull calf.
His two-year-old bull, “Strath
yearlings and his heifers captured
14 other ribbons.
Among the other award winners
from this area were;
Lockhart Turkey Farm, first,
bronze hens, young roaster turkeys.
Glass Loyal Mark,” won the state gift pack—one bird, sweepstakes.
