News Leader Photo Edmund Strowd, Chairman of the White Cross School Commit tee, said yesterday that parents of his community would discuss the possibility of a merger with Chapel Hill or levying of a sup plementary school tax in their district at a meeting to be held at the school next week. He said the Committee was much con cerned over the possible loss of one of its four teachers next year since the total enrollment in the eight grades this year is only 105, while an average enroll ment of 105 is required to main tain four teachers. Faculty Newcomers’ Local bus service between Dur ham and Chapel Hill has now been leased out by Carolina Trailways to a private operator. S. D. Small, Trailways driver lor the past 10 years, began last 'week operating a bus on this route under the name of Durham- Chapel Hill Bus Lines. The sched ules on this route, are in the process of re-adjustinent. At the present time there are eight round trips daily on the local line and six additional busse.s to Durham on through schedules. FLOWER GROUP The University of Alabama Quar tet was organized in 1944 by Otto- kar Cadek, the first violinist. In order to make the great literature j of this form accessible to students of the institutions and to a larger audience in the southern and cen tral states, it was established as quartet-in-residence by the Uni versity, with time allotted for con cert tours, siring clinics and as sembly programs. 'Through its concerts in 14 states and a series of broadcasts by the National Assn, of Educational Broadcasters, the group has achiev ed national recognition. In addition- to its annual tours, the quartet participates in the Arts Festival sponsored by the Univers: j ity of Alabama on the university I campus.
