The $22,000 project was one of 27 building jobs totalling $300,724 which were started here last month, according to a check of permits issued by Building Inspector How ard Stewart. While this represented a $17,000 decrease from the total for the same month in 1957, it was a considerable increase over the $253,311 in construction started dur- I ing May. Dr. Burns said that the new budd ing would be of contemporary brick parking area beside it. The local firm of Ellington and Sparrow is constructing the building, which is scheduled for completion in 90 days. Included in it will be five operat ing rooms, two private offices, a laboratory and business office, and a reception, room. Dr. W. T. Burns has been practicing in Chapel Hill for the past nine years and his brother has been here with him for the last six years. Planners Take Action On Re-Zoning Requests Approval of the preliminary plat for a 14-lot subdivision to be known as Crestwood—located off Davie Road west of Carrboro—has been recommended by the District Plan ning Board. The sector is to be developed by R. M. Pickard of Durham. At its meeting night before last the Board also recommended for final ap proval, contingent on some minor details, the plat for the Clark Hills subdivision near Eastwood Lake. A petition for re-zoning of W. G. Fields’ Durham Boulevard tract from RA-20 to Suburban Commer cial was recommended for denial basically because a highway shop ping area has been provided for in the vicinity. Also recommended for disap proval was a re-zoning request from RA-20 to RA-15 for a Planta tion Acres lot. Spot zoning ^yas giv en as the reason for this action.
