Griffin house, barn, crib, smokehouse; It also SOVEREIGNTY OF THE AIR The legal theory of land ownership includes ownership of the air space above the real estate, but the advent of the airplane creates a new condi tion which will inevitably affect the legal theory. The development of any world-wide air transportation operation is de pendent, to a large degree, upon an abandonment of a rigid "sovereignty- of-the-alr-space" policy which has been proclaimed by the nations of the world. This does not mean that the United States should give up its claim to con trol of the air over this coutnry. AU that Is necessary Is that the nations of the earth make reciprocal concessions in regard of airplanes flying over their territory. It would be permissible, of course, for nations to regulate ana channelize such traffic. TftmT 4rM IUo4 ntttioa obhI FORGET STATISTICS News from Italy tells us that Amer ican soldiers have taken "limited objectives." Behind the phrase, and maybe out of the vision of some people, the e are dead and wounded Americans, giving themelves for their country in a foreign land. Forget the statistics about bond Quotas and amounts purchased. Just remember that the casualty lists will gradually include more men from Union County. Every soldier has the right to expect the support of his nation. He should know, always, that his people are backing him. It is his to risk life and, perhaps, to die but there should be no American, soldier or sailor, wound ed or slain because his country did not give him the tools of warfare or the utmost means of protection in battle. It takes money to operate a war your money. What we do may save the lives of American soldiers, perhaps a man we know. The quicker we do it the more lives we can save. AH we can do, here st home, is to back our boys by buying bonds and more bonds. Forget the statistics; think of the men in battle. They are our own Union county hoys; buy bonds for them. i 'fax iiki-s GERMANS MUST RETURN LOOT 8om years ago the Chinese adopted the "scorched earth" poller and the Russians followed the same tactics as they retreated before the advancing hordes of Nad Germany.
