Feb. .Spe cial to Charlotte Chronicle -The nice two atoty bilck building occupied by Bennett Bros, for general merchan dise More, and adjoining the one occu pied by Wilson Redfeam, which was destroyed by the fire night betore last, was badly damaged by the fire and was thought during the fire that this building would fall. After the fire was over Bennett Bros, moved the goods back into the building, which were re moved during the fire. It was noticed during ike day. yesterday that the walls seemed to be gradu.i'ly gfving , away. The building was" wched closely, and about 1 1 o'clock last n'ght the wall fell and the bui'ding which s was worth about $2,000 is almost a Complete wreck. The buildinc was owned by Messrs 'Burns and Mills and is supposed to be well insured: Messrs. Bennett Bro's. goods were damaged about $1,500 by the falling wall and the ra-n which set in early this morning. Weary of Lifo. I-ondom, Feb. so. A constable last nighrdiscovered a woman standing on . the Thames embankment in a danger ous proximity to the brink. When the officer approached her, he observed that she was weeping bitterly, and making such motions as indicated her intention of committing suicide by drowning.
