FERGUSON HELD YESTERDAY.

Funeral services for Mrs. Maud
MacLean Ferguson, wife of W. B.
Ferguson, who died after a brief ill
ness on Friday afternoon from the
residence at 8401 West avenue 'with
the, Rev. L. T. Williams, pastor of
Trinity M. E. Church, officiating.
Burial was made in Greenlawn ceme
tery, i
There was a profusion of flowers
at the home, with many beautiful
tributes from organizations to which
Mrs. Ferguson had belonged, as well
as from friends of her husband.
Among these were flowers from the
Girl Reserves, the Y. W. C. A. board
of directors, the Apprentice schooV
the Newport News Shipbuilding an
Dry Dock Company, of which Mr. Fer
guson is production manager, the
Fannie Asher Circle, the Woman's
Missionary Society of Trinity M. E.
Church, Order of the Eastern Star,
Douglas MacLean Production Com
pany, the Woman's Club and the class
of 1900 of the U. S. Naval Academy,
with which Mr. Ferguson was grad
uated at Annapolis.
The members of the Missionary So
ciety and the Fannie Asher Circle at
tended in a body, while there were
fo -many others on hand to pay a last
tribute to Mrs. Ferguson that a large
crowd was forced to stand on the
lawn while the services were in pro
gress. Many of the flowers ' were later
taken to Greenlawn where they com
pletely covered the plot after the j
body had been lowered to its last'
resting place.
At the conclusion of the funeral
services by the minister, a quartette
from the Woman's Club sang two
hymns, the first being "Asleep in
Jesus" and the second, "Shall We
Meet Beyond the River" as the body
was being borne out from the house
for the last time.
Those making up the quartette were
Mrs. Harry Shawen, Mrs. W. J.
Knight, Mrs. Ralph Bauer and Mrs.
S. P. Marston.
Active pallbearers were: W. T.
Dimm, S. H. Plummer, L. C. Branch, ,
M. M. Fitzhugh, L. S. Davis, W. C.
Spratt, E. J. Robeson and J. W. Rob-,
inson.
The honary pallbearers were: S. L.j
