Commissioners met on June 1st, and transacted the following business: Ordered that Guy Mills be paid $2.00 per month for his own support. List of insolvent tax payers be published in Polk County News for two weeks. Treasurer pay the following $2.00 each for their own support for May: J. L.. Roddy, Calvin Splawn, Lawsey : Williams, Patty Pritchard, Wm. Smith, Treecy Boyd. Treasurer pay J. W. Newman $21.40, jail fees for May. Treasurer pay.Polk Couuty News $7.00 for publishing finance report and tax notice. Treasurer payElvin Griffin $2.50 for support of son for May. Treasurer rav .L P. Summer has arrived and the dry . spell has been broken by fine rains and we 'think they have been general, So we take back all we Bai& about- the dry weather. - As we were not under oath and are human; we are liable to err. - 1 Squire Parker,, of whom we have spoken in previous issues died at his home on Broad River on June 3rd. He was a good citizen and, his death caused sorrow in the community where he had lived for many years. A wife survives him. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. J. B. Carpenter at-Kistlrr'a chapel and the body was interred in the cemetery there. Mr. Parker was eigutymne; Jrears old. h : - : DIMSDALE. The friends of Mrs. Walker ' Tucker are rejoiced to know that she is able to sit up after a long illness. ; Our Sunday school superintend ent, H. K. Corn, is quite sick. It is hoped he will soon be with us again in the Sunday school. A small party of young folks spent a .pleasant day recently on the mountain. The party consisted of Messrs. Roy and Wheeler Gibbs, John and Twitty Jackson and Nes- bit Wilson; Misses Florence and Mollie Jackson and Gertrude Gard ner. The party was chaperoned by Mrs. J. R. Jackson and Mrs. J. W. Gardner.
