Steadman passed through bur village last Monday with Ambrose Flack, a negro, who is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill He committed the offence on Joseph Liles, colored, in South Carolina, so Constable Steadman delivered him to the South Carolina officer just one mile below Jiere at the State line. Whiteside preached two interesting sermons at Mill Spring last Saturday and Sunday. iibe lumber for repairing the Baptist church has been hauled and work will probably commence the early part of next week if the weather permits. There will be an all day service at Silver Creek" church the third Sunday in November. Rev. W. M. Whiteside will be there and con duct oneof the services. The other will be a memorial service for Mrs. Happy McMurry, who died on theSthof September, 1903, which service will- be conducted by the pastor, Rev. John Walker.
