Much Interest in Newman Murder Trial
Slow .Progress made.
Spring term of Superior court
opened here Monday for two
Weeks' 'About three hundred
and fifty people attended Monday.'
The number decreased Tuesday
and Wednesday.
So far this r has been a slow
court. - There has been few cases
tried and they seemed to drasr

of the grand jury and the judge's
charge to the latter. Judge Me-

Much interest is being mani

case , which "comes up at this term.
It will be remembered that Dave
Newman was arrested last Nov

Grayson Holbert about six miles
from Miif Spring. The trial of
Newman will probably begin
about Thursday and the lawyers
interested in the case seem to
think it will last several ; days. '
It is said they had expressed th.- j
opinion that they would do well to i
finish this case by Saturday at
twelve o'clock.
" There are tnree attorneys be
sides the Solicitor employed in
the Newman case. The two
local attorneys are interested in
it, J. E. Shipman being employ
ed by the defendant and J. P.
Morris to aid the Solicitor. Wm.
bmitn, ol Hendersonviile, is also
employed by the defendant.
- It is said there are seventy-five
or eighty witnesses summoned on
this case.
