Mr. Cantrell, of Spartanburg,
was in town -first of the week;
He will probably spend the sum
mer here.
Esq. C. A. Carson has a fine
lot of sweet, potatoes for sale at
regular market price; He can
furnish you with either kind, for
seed or table use.
Mr. John Bierbaum of New
York City is the guest of Mrs.
Carnegie, arriving on Friday of
last week. He will remain for
some time, for recreation and
iiuprovementiof his health.
Mrs. T. E. Walker is improv
ing from ner recent attack of
grippe, also Misses Ada and Ola,
whose' "helo" voice was not
heard at the central office for
several days, are getting better.
Atty. E. B. Cloud is now com
fortablly situated in his neat little
office; Note the change in his
legal card and his sign next door
to the News office.
Mrs A. L. McMurray was call
ed to the sick bed of her mother,
Mrs. Laughter of Uree, last week
returning on Sunday and reports
her mother's condition some
better. Ofcourse little Vada and
Earnest went to see grandma too.
Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Chevallier
left on Monday morning for
Spartanburg where they will
spend some tm3. From there
they will probably go to Ruther-
4'ordton.
- Mr. Fitch has endeared himself
to the people of our town, but it
"dosen't suit him to "keep batch"
his batching arrangments in the

not long enough for the girls to
give him a pounding; He has
