Trvon. Apr. 17. Robt. Car- ruth of Spartanburg has succeed ed J. R. Parris as manager of Tryon Kuidine Medicine Co. J. W. Kennedy Co., has com menced work on their feed store building alongside the Southern Railway tracks. Mayor E. E. Missildine has been ordered to take a complete rest and has gone to St. Louis on an extended visit to relatives. F. E. Hellen is mayor pro-tem. Jas. C. Fisher has been quite sick, suffering from an attack of pneumonia, but is convalescent. The nunicipal election takes place May, 7th. J. W: Kennedy has been spoken of as a candi date for mayor and Geo. A. Gash, J. B. Livingston, B. L. Ballenger, W. T. Lindsey and A. L. Hill for commissioners. The Bond Election for macad amized roads in Tryon township held May 14th.. One of the jud ges points out the fact that if the election is carried all the roads in the township must share in the proposod improvement and that $12,000 is entirely insuf ficient to cover all the roadway in the township, as the $8,000 voted to macadamize Trade street for a little over half a mile was found to be barely sufficient . and the project had to be aband oned. Another party takes the view that $12,000 will accomplish considerable. He points out that much good road-bed already exists in the township that will need very little preparation and will not need to be macadamized to depth of more than two or three inches. A social event of more than usual interest will take place Thursday evening April 18th, when Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ken nedy and Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Talley will tender a reception to their Tryon friends at "Sunset View," the pretty home cf Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Kennedy, in honor of their wedding anniver saries. Miss Hannah Weaver has re turned, home from a visit of a month with her sister, Miss Bes sie Weaver, in Spartanburg. Miss Bessie Whitlock, former ly stenographer and typewriter for the Tryon Hosiery Co. , who is holding a position in Indian apolis, is the guest of Mrs. J. W. Kennedy. Miss Sybil Smith has returned to Spartanburg after a pleasant visit of three weeeks with Mrs. C. M. Howes in Valhalla. Address, Campob ti4ahtnflr 2nd.
