It was decided by the manage ment to abandon the paper in order to give more time to job printing which has been rapidly on the increase. The friends of the. Belt will learn with, pleasure that former Editor Corcoran will be in charge of the job plant and remain in Tryon. The News is indeed sorry to aee the Belt leave the field, for newspapers are drawn together by ties such as no other profes sion. Our sympathies for each other are greater and more heart felt for we. and we alone, know what a county editor has o face. We area centra criticizin . mre favorable. Then we have no oneTto sympathize with us but an unfortunate brother-newspaperman who can give us noth ing but sympathy. Such is the - life of the county editor and the readers may imagine with what deep regret we chronicle the abandonment of the Belt, for it makes the burden the harder for those remaining. We wish for the entire Belt's force the best of success in their fcew undertaking and hope that someday we may have the pleas ure of welcoming them back in to the pleasant pastures of . journalism. . FARMERS' INSTITUTE A SUCCESS Fife Dollars Siren For Finest Tomatoes Grown Next Year- The Farmers' Institute which was held in the courthouse Wed nesday was a succese from start to finish. The attendance was exceptionally good and the inter est taken by the farmers and their wives plainly shows how the farmers are awakening to ithe need of scientific farming. The speakers F. Sherman and 3-3. Shaw were at their best and two more interesting speakers never addressed an assemblage in the county. Their lectures were received by the audience 'with enthusiasm. , At the close of the meeting chairman T. T. Ballemjer stated that a prize of five dollars would be givn to th farmer, who net year brought five of the finest tomatoes -rown in the county to the Institute. - E.
