Baptizing at 111 Spring
A baptizing was held at the
Baptist church of Mill Spring
last Stindaj when the following
candidates were received into
the ehurch by baptism Messrs.
Loas Walker, Jesse Lewis, Jno.
Walker Misses Splawn, Gladys
Gibbs.
After the baptizing the Rev.
Moss, paitor of the church and
who also conducted the baptiz
ing, preached an excellent ser
mon to one of the largest congre
gations ever assembled in the
church, the house was filled to
its utmost capacity standing
room being hardly procurable.
Base Ball Game at Lyon.
Last Saturday afternoon the
Xyrin base ball team defeated
the aggregation from Pleasant
Hill by a score of 7 to 1.

greatly interesting, though the
' Lynn boys had the visitors at
their mercy from the jump.

Convention
Notice is hereby given that a Republican Con
vention for the County of Pclk is hereby called
to meet at the court-house in Columbus, on
Monday, September 28. 1908, at 12 o'clock m.
for the purpose of nominating a candidate for
the Legislature and candidates for the various
county offices. The Chairmen of the various
Township committees are instructed to call meet
ings for their townships U be held on Saturday
Sept. 26th. for the purpose of electing delegates
to the county convention. There will also be a
meeting of the Republican Executive Committee
immediately after the adjournment of the county
convention for the purpose of electing a chair
man of said Committee, and for -the- transaction
of such other business as may come before said
