Permanent Surrey VorK The Appalachain Construction Cjmpany, having -ne cont ajt for tlie construction ot the South Atlantic Transcontinental. Rail road, on last Thursday commen ced the permanent survey of the road at Waynesville, under tne direction of Col, S. A. Jones, president. The surveying corps is in charge of Capt. Chas. W. Pearson, ef Polk County. Capt. Pearson is well known througn the Statd and was connected with the location of nearly every railroad in North Carolina, amongst others, being on the survey of the Asheville and Spar tanburg, and on the Murphy branch from Asheville; to Way- j nesville, about 30 yeare ago. It is understood thirt thi survey will extend Northwest from Waynesville after a satisfactory location is made in and" around that town. The office of theconstruction company is in Henderson ville, in charge of T. C. McNealy, Super intendent. " This company has the contract for the Appalachain Interurban Railroad olso, and ?t is expected the affairs of that company will be rapidly headed up prepatory to actual construction. The entire W estern part of the State is interested in the progress of these companies and it is grat ifying to know the outlook is now so bright, and that this pre paratory work is well under way, for its doubtless means an early accomplishment of the gigantic projects and the opening up of new territory through this sec tionErench Broad Hustler.
