Mr. Jamer Jackson, of Tryon, was a pleasant visitor here last Monday. Mr- T. M. Ruppe, a progressive citizen of Coopers Gap Town ship, was in town this week. Mr. W. F. Swann, of Lynn, was a business visitor here Tues day. Mr. J. H. Gibbs, of Mill Spring, was a Columbus visitor Wednes day. Mr. T. J. Shipman, of Hender son ville, visited his son, A'tty. J. E. Shipman, here this week. Mr. T. P. Covington, of Melvin Hill, is in town today on busi ness. Capt. C. W. Pearson was a pleasant Columbus visitor this week. A. DuDlap, Promineit Citizen ol Cedar Hill. Run Don. f Charlotte Observer. Wadesboro, Dec. 1. J. A. Dunlap of Cedar Hill, a promi nent citizen of this county, was instantly killed at 5o'clock this aiter noon by a through freight on the Seaboard Air Line. The accident oc&irred at the cross ing on the Ansonvillte road im mediately in front of the furni ture factory. The buggy in which Mr. Dun lap was riding was demolised but horse he was driving was un injured. The train was a fast freight soutbound nd the cure at the crossing makes it extra dangerous for these driving on the road. Mr. Dunlap drove on th track immediately tn front of the train and the engine stuck the buggy. Death was in stantneous, caused by a blow on the skull. Mr. Dunlap leaves large family connection. A son, Dr. L. V. Dunlap, lives at Albemarle. Mr Dunlap, whose tragic death told in the above, was the father of Mrs. Johon Hampton, of this county.
