Citizens of fpdlumbus are now planning to grade the town roads by voluntary! contributions of money, labor ,teams, etc. If de sirous of lending a hand in this undertaking let Mr- W. E. Hill know about it at once, while the weather is good. It looks as if no better time can be found than right now to spruce up thejtown. Don't wait on anyone els to have a general cleaning up but let each one give up a little of rjis time, just when he can, and the town will soon look ship-shape and orderly again. jf Cupid arranged a very pretty setting in Columbus Wednesday afternoon fori Mr. James Moore and Miss Lillian Gurley of Tryon, who came to Squire N. T. Mills to be married! They found the Squire in his I cotton patch and were married there, Mrs. Mills witnessing the .ceremony. Sorry we can't get the good roads bond issue through as we had hoped. jBut while we are waiting for a special act of the legislature kving our commis sioners the right to isiue bonds to build goocll roads throughout the county, let's not be idle, but sign the petition any way, for the commissioners will want to know the sentiment of the majority, before proceeding to use their power when they get it. Polk County real estate is selling lively now. , . Polk County has the most healthful of climates and pure drinking water, and its natural resources are . not surpassed anywhere! x . r ? ' ! If you want to engage in farming in a small way, or extensively, you can buy no better land than offered in this county. 1 have some excellent opportunities for home or farm seekers, in Columbus, White Oak Greens Creek and Tryon townships, in tracts of 4 to 200 acres, close to churches and schools, at very reasonable prices, and will cheerfully answer all inquiries.
