Each tiny new baby is heir to His love, Is part of that Kingdom so fair, And none is too tiny, too helpless, too young, The joy of His birthday to share. A. Jones oi Nor folk, Va., a few days ago, was en closed the following poem written by a Marine Sentry concerning that im portant Virginia seaport: When God was designing creation, And was laying the ocean and sands With never a moment s relaxation, Not even to spit on his hands. As anyone will, in a hurry, He let things go now and then i- oil Vio ovnitpment and worry That he should have done over again. So rather than muss up the outfit, And save everyone s blunaer ana uiuu, He laid them away in a corner To use at the end of the jod. , On the sixth afternoon of the contract h;d t.im would exmre that day, Hp hniled out the dress of creation And shoveled the litter away. :: He gathered the wreckage and tilling, The scum, the sewage and sump, And built on the shores of the Ches- oaneake The great international dump. He rushed things up in a hurry, And because of the rush ne was in, Hp named the Dlace Norfolk, And Norfolk its always been. .. Then feeling gloomy and sarcastic Because it was Saturday night, He picked out the nastiest corner And named it Granby for spite. It's there that they do things back ward. And the dirt doesn't dry between rains, Where the highest prices are plentiful And the money is better than brains. Its the land of the infernal odor, The town of the national smell, The average American Marine Would rather be anchored in neu. So its back to the North for yours truly, A sadder and wiser chap, Cause God played a joke on the people When Norfolk was put on the map: SELMA THEATRE SELMA, N. C.
