Conrad Jenkins of Pembrooke College was weekend guests of Miss Williams. Mr. Fred Zuges of Norfolk, Va was home with his family for the weekend. Mrs. B. B. Williamson has retur ned home after surgery in James Walker Hosnital in Wilmington. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sparks and children of Norfolk, Va.. spent the week end with her mother, Mrs. B B. Williamson. After the meeting was called to order, the usual procedure follow ed; the pledge and motto were re peated and the club song was sung in unison. A duet, "Dixie", was played by Sharon Hall and Mrs. Bowden. " e ' * ' After business and reading of the i minutes were dispensed with, a short program followed. All s'ud ents participated in discussing hry thm, musical terms symbals, and naming famous musical composers. Those playing in the student re cital were: McRae Sharpe, Diann Howard, {Catherine Summerlin, Jim my Rogers, Katby Pate, David Phil lips, Sandra Evans, Kathy Bunce, Sharon Brown, Joan Qrady, Thnm my Benson,-Joey Quinn, Connie Rhodes, Nan Kilpatrick, Sharon Hall, Edward Quinn, and Nancy Whitman. After the meeting was adjourned delicious refreshments were served by Sharon Brown; an added treat, home made chocolate fudge and seafoam candy was enjoyed by all. At the two previous meetings, McRae Sharpe and Joey Quinn, Sharon Hall and Connie Rhodes ser ved the refreshment committ. Presbyterian Circles Circle No. 1 of the Women of Grove Presbyterian Church met on Monday afternoon at three thirty in the Lucy Jolly Educational ? Build ing. Due to illness of several mem bers only 7 were present. The cir cle chairman, Mrs. Lloyd Ferrell, opened the meeting with prayer and was moderator for the Bible Study in Matthew. She was assist ed by Mesdames, N. B. Boney, Ben Bowden and J. A. Gavin. Mrs. J. J. Weils was Moderator of Circle No. 2 which met on Monday night at 7:30 with Mrs. Ralph Brown. The business session was presided over by Mrs. Martha P. Sitterson, circle chairman; World Missions, the monthly emphasis was discussed by Mrs. Brown. At the close of the meeting the hostess as sisted by Mrs. Billy Stephen served ham biscuits, cookies and coffee. Mrs. Wells Entertains Club Mrs. J. J. Wells was hostess to her Town and Country Bridge Club on last Tuesday evening. The Valen tine motif was used with red cloths, napkins, and tallies. , Miss Mary Lee Sykes, Mrs. D. S. Williamson, Mrs. Martha Sitterson, and Mrs. GrKfiu were visitors. Mrs. Thelma Taylor, Mrs. E. C. Tyndal'. Mrs. Eloise Ryder, and Mrs. E. S. McGowen were club members play ing.. m sir After several progressions, the hostess served sausage roll, potato chips, onion dip, assorted crackers, and coffee. Mrs. Williamson was given a can ister for visitors high score. A sim ilar gift was given Mrs. Tyndall for club high. Club Meets With Mrs. Wallace Mrs. J. B. Wallace was hostess to her Bridge Club on Tuesday even ing. Mrs. Margaret Williams and Mrs. I. C. Burch were additional guests. Others playing were: Mrs. J. R. Grady, Mrs. Reba -Gavin, Mrs. C. B. Guthrie. Mrs. Mattie Sadler, Mrs. Lucille Stokes, and Mrs. Vir ginia Penny. After several progressions, Mrs Grady assisted the hostess in serv ing fruit jello-o topped with whipped cream, fruit cake, pecan drop, and cheese cookies and coffee. Msr. Gavin was givon perfume for club high and Valentine candy was received by the visitors. Mrs. Smith's Funeral Held Sat. Mrs. Lola Boney Smith, 79, wid ow 6f the late Ressie Smith died early Friday morning February at her home in the Sarecta Community after having been in declining heal th for several years. Funeral services were conducted at the home Saturday afternoon at 3:00 O'clock by Rev. Lauren Sharpe pastor of the Kenansville Baptist Church, and Rev. Stephen Smith of Beulaville. Interment was in Golden Grove Cemetery. She is survived by one son, Dav id Ressie Smith, two daughters, Mrs. Loe Jackson an4 Mrs. Robert Hollingsworth all of Kenansville Seven grand children and nine great grand children. Cora Stokes Circle ' Thfs Cora Stokes Circle met with Mrs. C. B. Guthrie on Monday after noon. Upon arrival, Mrs. Stokes as sisted the hostess in serving sand wiches, potato chips, cookies, and Cokes. Following the opening prayer and a short bunises session, Mrs. Stokes gave a most inspiring program on Christian Witnessing. BOWDEN COMMUNITY WOMEN MET The women of the Bowden Com munity Presbyterian Church met in the church on Monday evening, Feb. 11th, at 7:30 p. m. Mrs. Norwood James, president, called the meeting to order and opened it with prayer. The Bible study was led by Mrs. Leon Taylor with all members tak ing part. The minutes were read and aproved. The treasurers report was given. Old and new business was ris cussed. A report was given oa the barbecue supper for the building fund.
