Rofarians H$$r Wilbur Long Mr. Wilbur Long of Raleigh, Chief i of the Stream Pollution Board, was guest speaker at the Warsaw Rotary Club last Thursday. He was intro duced by Mayor Ed Strickland Mr. Long stated that streams are 1 one of the biggest problems in the state. He went on to say that North Carolina has an average of twenty nine billion gallons of water per day flowing into the rivers and the ocean, and the main trouble is we do not maintain the water and at times it gets down to two million gallons a day. The four main class ification of water are usable for drinking, water that can be made into drinking water, water that can not be used to drink but can be used for agriculture and industry purposes, and the water so polluted that It is non-usable. There are two ways of treating pollution, he said, the primary treatment which is used in Warsaw and the secondary treatment which is needed, where by the polluted water is treated with chemicals to help remove the pol lution. Th meeting was held at the Coffee Shop with president E. B. Boyette presiding. Mr. W. G. Britt gave the invocation. Mr. J. A. Cavenaugh was remembered with a gift for his birthday and Mr. and Mrs. Robert West were remembered on their anniversary. U. D. C. Officers On Friday night the home of Mrs. Lou Belle Williams was the scene of an informal Buffet dinner given in honor of the North Caro lina Division and District Jty. 9 Of ficers and members of the John Ivey Thomas Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy Guest were greeted by Mrs. Wil liams and invited into the living room where Grace was said by the Chaplin Mrs. Ray Humphrey. Toma to Juice was served by the hostess, cssited by Mrs. Margaret Edwards and Mrs. Lou J. Kennedy. The Guest were then invited to ihe dining room to be served, ham. asparagus casserole, string beans, confealed salad, oif lettuce, aiicerf | tomatoes, carrots,. pickles, stuffed. celery, hot rolls and lefed tea.
