John A. Wilkerson. Jr., has returned to Pink Hill after having attended a Presbyterian minister's convention in Dallas, Texas. He was accompanied to Dallas by his father, Mr. J. A. Wilkerson, Sr., of Lynchburg, Va. Filling the pulpit : at the local church while the pastor was away was Mr. Donald Glover, a Seminary student, of Richmond, Va. ? Mr. and Mrs. Manly Hatch and family were vacationing with rela tives at Greenwood, S. C. recently. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Watson ' and son. Randy spent some time, 1 recently with friends in Indiana. The Watsons are now occupying their new trailer home at Carolina Beach while Mr. Watson is working on a job for Barrus Construction Co. in that area. Mrs. Bob Hood was at Clarkton recently to return her niece. Miss Beth Little to her home, atfer hav- 1 ing visited the Hoods. Mrs. Myra Jo Whitley is attending summer school at the University in Chapel Hill. Her sons. Max and < Mike are spending the time with I their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. i Warren Maxwell. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Worley and their guests Mesdames Ruby Stone of Louisburg and J. Leon Clark of Baton Rouge, La. attended funeral services for Mrs. Lucy Bowers, in Washington, N. C. Sunday afternoon Mesdames Stone and Clark are sis ters of Mrs. Worley. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Carr, of Wal lace, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Grady. Sr, of Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest %rrfmmx were guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. May Sunday afternoon. Mrs. T. A. Turner, Mr. and Mrs. r. J. Jr., had as his < guests, Messrs James Howard, James Williamson, Charles Miles, Bill Hatch and Leo Byrd Mr. James Howard has accepted employment as instructor of Indus trial Arts in the Roanoke Rapids High School for 1963 - 1964. He is a graduate of East Carolina College. 1 Mr. and Mrs. Linwood C. Turner, Messrs Lynn and Johnny Turner and Mr. and Mrs. James Miles Messrs Jimmy and Charles Miles and Trudy Miles were at the Jones Summer Cottage at Atlantic Beach for the 4th of July holidays. The Whitford Hill family had as guests during the past week, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Post Hill and son, Roger Scott of Gainesville, Fla., GS^rno^Schooi, at Salem^bllege and Mr. and Mrs. Benny Rogers and son of Raleigh. Mrs. J. Melvin Jones is expected Iiome this week from a tour of sev eral weeks in Europe. She was sch eduled to land in New York by eoat July 9. Miss Connor Jones arrived at the weekend after having spent some time in 'Washington, D. C. Mrs. Charles Lee Overman and laughters of Monroe are spending this week with Mrs. Overman's par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Davis, Mr. Overman, who spent the weekend returned home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Turner, Sr. were at Efland. Saturday to bring iiome their daughter Debbie and Annette Simpson who had been at tending camp at nearby Chestnutt Ridge. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Dail and Elaine and Robert have been recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Dunn, at Selma. Mr. Hugh C. Turner expects to go to Fitzgerald, Ga. at the week end to be on the Tobacco Market for a few weeks. Messrs Robert Smith and John Fitzgerald of Kinston spent the weekend at Atlantic Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rochwick and son of Charlotte, Va. and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Rochwick of-Chi cago, III. rave been recent guests of Mrs. Eliza Smith and Shirley. Mrs. Janice Herring is visiting her daughter, Mrs. J. E. Martin and Mr. Martin, at Montezuma, Ga. for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Spell at tended the Meyerhoeffer-Huffman wedding at Stanton, Va. Saturday, Mr. Spell served as an usher. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Grady were recent visitors in Nashville, Tann -Mas Brenda Grad/ind MiiT De loris Hubgood of Wilson Were visit ing the home of Miss Grady during the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Noble and children of Washington, D. C. have been guests during the past week of Mr. Noble's brother, Mr. Kermit Noble and family, and other rela tives in the area. Mrs. Walter Davis has recovered, sufficiently, to return home from the Craven County Hospital at New Bern. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Astor and children of Green Lane, Pa. were weekend guests of Mrs. Astor's par tints, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Grady, at Albertson. Mr. and Mrs. Steahan Rogers of Rocky Mount hav been recent over night guests of Mr. Rogers' bro ther, Mr. Raymond Rogers, and Mrs. Rogers. Mrs. Myron Curl of Seattle, Wash, the former Edna Williams who has been visiting her father in Fayette ville, was recent guest in the home of Mrs. Faison Smith and other re latives. Mr. and Mrs. James Hemphill and Jimmy of Raleigh and Mr. Aaron Smith of Nashville, Tenn, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Faison Smith. Presbyterian Circles Entertained Mrs. Inez Sandlin and Mrs. A. W. Turner were hostesses at a Joint Meeting of circles 1 and 2 of Pink Hill Presbyterian Women, at their home Tuesday night, July 2. Mrs. Sandlin acting chairman, was in charge. Mrs. Turner conducted the Bible study. Following adjournment, banana cake with iced drinks and coffee were served. Attend Camp Rainbow Dianne Jackson and Janice Smith attended Camp Rainbow, an East ern Star camp, near Boone last week. Accompanying them there June 30, were Mrs. Prentiss W. Smith, misses Betty and Donna Jean Smith and Mr. Johnson Smith. Laurie Jackson, Jackie Sholar and Johnny Jackson went for them July 0. VFW Auxiliary The new president. Mrs. Frances Stroud was in charge of the regular first Monday Night Meeting of the Auxiliary to the Williard Smith Post No. 9514 of U. F. W. which was held at the home of Mrs. Nora Stroud, July 1. Following a busi ness session, etc. assorted cookies potato chips and punch were ser ved. At Beach Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cade and dau ghters, of Charlotte who were guests last week of the Henry Riv enbark of Wallace at their Cottage at Topsail Beach, were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Corbett Weston and Mrs. Nora Stroud, in Pink Hai. Ruritan Club Hears Major Hall A regular meeting of the Pink Hill Community Ruritan Club was held in the School Cafeterian Thu rsday night, July 4 There were 27 members present. Major Hall of the Salvation Army, of Kinston, was guest speaker. He talked on the "Orgin and Work of The Salvation Army.' Members of the Pink Hill Home Demonstration club served supper. The president, Floyd Dail presid ed. Grady-Simms Wed William Allen Grady, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul A. Grady of Albert son, and Miss Beverly Frances Simms of Nashville, Tenn. were I married at 4 p. m. Sunday, July 7, at Harper-Southerland Presbyter ian Church at Albertson. Rev. Nor man P. Farrior of Rose Hill was the officiating minister. Ben Scott Turner played the wedding music. The couple entered the church, un attended. The bride wore a street length dress, of which satin, with matching accessories, and a veil. Following the ceremony, the couple left for a short wedding trip to the North Carolina Coast. Pink Hill HOC To Meet A monthly meeting of the Pink Hill Home Demonstration Club will be held at the home of Mrs. Seth B. King at 2 p. m. Thursday, July 11.
