Every ane enjoyed eating bir thday cake and home made ice cream. Mrs. Sal lie Tucker spent Friday through Wednesday in Wiknihgtoq with Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Tucker and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ray Tuck er. She also visited other relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Pope and son Harry, and Mrs. L. E. Pope Itrfe spending this week at Carolina Bfipch. Mrs. LiHian Sasser of Goldsboro spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Sasser. Sherry Powell spent last week in Wlimington with Mr, and Mrs. Ed Evans and girls. The Evans family came on Saturday to bring her home. Jimmie Tucker and Houston Mer ritt, Jr. of Wilmington spent the week end with John D. Wilson. Rev, and Mrs. M. A. Conrad are visiting relatives and frienls in the western part of the state. Mrs. Smith WC ot CS Hostess The Womaos Society of Christian Service held its July meetlpg with Mrs. Jerry Smith. Mrs. C. H. Pope led the devotional, Mrs. N. T. Pic ket was in charge of the program, assisted by Mrs. John Rich, Mrs. J. T. Pegg Mrs. Tracy Brown. Mrs. Edith Gattis was a visitor. At the close of the meeting the hostess served apple pie a la mode and coffee. There were 13 present. Ice Cream Party On Tuesday night the Young Adult Class of Magnolia Methodist Sunday School held an ice cream party in the recreation room at the church. The group enjoyed home made ice cream. Mrs. Evans Canasta Hostess Mrs. 'Wendell Evans was hostess to her canasta club on Wednesday night at her home. Members present were, Mesda mes 3. t- lianier, O B". Qumn, Earl Baker, McDonald Beasley, Worth Potter, Jr., William Potter, Joe Newkirfc, Abbie Smith, Jerry Smith and Wendell Evans. Funeral services were conducted at the Cabin Freewill Baptist Chu rch Friday afternoon at 3:30 by Rev. Walter Sutton. Burial follow ed, in the Church Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, the former Minnie Wilkins, three chikl ren Ona, Sandra and Phillip Mer cer all of Middlesex. Two brothers Flave and Ronnie Mercer of Beula ville, three sisters Mrs. Frank Rhodes and Mrs. Otis Miller of Beulaville and. Mrs. Rashie Ken nedy of Houston, Texas and several neices and nephews. MBS. I.1I.MF. MAE BOSTIC Mrs. Lillie Mae Bostic. 53 wife of M. C. Bostic died Tuesday night at hey home in Rose Hill after a lin gering illness. Funeral services were conducted at the Rose Hill Holiness Church by Rev. Joe Whaley. Thursday after noon at 3:00 O'clock. Burial follow ed in the Hallsville Baptist Church Cemetery near Beulaville. In addition to her husband she is survived by two sons Carroll Dean Whaley of Sneads Ferry, Jim L. Whaley of Rose Hill, four daugh ters Mrs. Eloise Ratts of Rose Hill. Mrs. Charles HoUoway of Kinston, Mrs. Milford Turner of Calypso, and Miss Donna Jane Whaley of the home. Ten , grand children three brothers Hallie Mobley of Swansboro, Morris of Akron, Ohio and Horace Whaley Mobley of the Merchant Marines. One sister Mrs. L. H. Dail of Magnolia, and sever al neices and nephews. DONNELL 8. EZZELL Donnell Slade Ezzell, 42, died suddenly at his home in Richmond Saturday night. He is the son of Mrs. Clyde Parker Ezzell and the late Pearlie Ezzell. He was bom and reared in Magnolia. Funeral services were held at the Magnolia Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. M. A. Conrad, pastor, as sisted by Rev. Forest Maxwell, pastor of the Wallace Baptist Chu rch. Interment followed in the Mag nolia Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, the former Eunice Chick of Richmond. Two sons Donald Ray of the Air ' Force stationed in Newport News, Va. and Kenneth of Richmond. Two daughters Misses Donna and Linda Ezzell of Richmond. His mother Mrs. Clyde P. Ezaell of Wallace.
