Boney to Fal son last Tuesday afternoon. Mesdames G. V. Gooding and Hortense Hasty shopped in Goldsboro one afternoon last week. The Rev. Edwin S. Coates of Farmville, N.C. spent the past week end here with his niece, Mrs. Martha p. Sltterson. He was visited on Sunday Morning by a nephew, George Frank Landen of Chinquapin. Mrs. E. S. McGowan accom panied Mrs. N. B. Boney to Clinton on last Wednesday afternoon to visit Mrs. tlnda Boney. Mr. and Mrs. F. W. McGowan shopped in FayetteVille last Sat urday. Mrs. Lawrence Southerland spent the week end In Fayette Ville with her sister, Miss Ella C. Cogdell and other relatives. Mrs. N. B. Boney went to the U. S. Naval Hospital at camp Lejeune last Friday afternoon on Red Cross business for the Duplin County Chapter. She was accompanied there by Mrs. Parker Quinn. Mrs. Robert Holllngsworth went to Klnston on Tuesday. Faye Kornegay spent thepast week end in Clinton with two of her sisters. Shirley and Mary Ann. The Gene Stewart Family of Bute's Creek spent the week end here with Mrs. John Edwards and children. _ PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN MET Circle No. 1 of the women of Grove PresbyterUnChurchmet on Monday afternoon at three thirty with Mrs. Caroline H. Gavin. There were 12 mem bers and 2 visitors present. The chairman, Mrs. Lloyd Fer rell made the opening prayer and presided over the business session. Mrs. L. Southerland was moderator of the Bible study on five of the Royal or Messianic Psalms. She was assisted by Mesdames N. B. Boney, J. B. Brown, J. N. Home, Ralph Barwick and G.V. Gooding. The Monthly Empha sis was discussed by Mrs. A.T. Outlaw. Plans were made to get Christmas Gifts for their Orphan Boy at Barium springs also for several local shut-insi The hostess served a sweet course. Circle No. 2 met on Monday night at 7:45 with Mrs. Jack Sltterson. Mrs. J. J. Wells was moderator of the Bible Study from the Psalms, was Mrs. Louise W. Mitchell assis ted by several others present. The monthly Emphasis on our annual joy Gift for Ministerial Relief was presented by Miss Margaret Williams. The host ess served chocolate nut pie and coffee to the 7 present. MRS. GUTHRIE ENTERTAINS CLUB Mrs. C. B. Guthrie was host ess to her bridge club on last Tuesday evening. CORA STOKES CIRCLE The Cora Stokes Circle met on Monday afternoon with Mrs. Ben Williamson as hostess. Circle chairman, Mrs. George Penney, opened the meeting with praver and later presided over the Business session. Mrs. C. B. Guthrie gave the program, Apostle of Advance, stressing the life of Dr. M. The ron Rankin. Mrs. calsonmade the closing prayer. During the social hour the members exchanged gifts from an attractively lighted tree. Mrs. Caison made the closing Mrs. Lauren Sharpe assisted the hostess in serving apple pie, a-la-mode, nutsandcoffee. W. S. OF C.S. MET The W. S. of C. S. of the Methodist Church met on Mon day evening with Mrs. Hazel Scott. Mrs. willard Johnson presided over the business ses sion. Mrs. Pegg, Mrs. Ryder and Mrs. sallle Ingram pre sented the program.
