The Ivy Bowdens shopped in Goldsboro on Wednesday after noon. ELLA COOPER CIRCLE: Fifteen members of the Ella Cooper Circle met on last Mon day night at 8:00 p.m. with their circle chairman, Mrs. Frances Oakley who presided over the meeting. A program on "Dr. Rankin"' was presented by Mrs. J.D. Kornegay assisted by Mrs. Oscar Redwlne and Mrs. Brin son vestal. During the social hour gifts were exchanged from a prettily decorated Christmas tree. The hostess assisted by l her two daughters, Rebecca and Anne, served a sweet course consisting of block Ice cream with a Santa Claus molded on ' top. Stanley (Jabbo) Johnson, at, died Fri day afternoon. He was a na tive of Burgaw, but had lived in flramuhnni for M v?r> He u connected with the public cbool system until hi* retire tent last year, teaching phy Ics, algebra and radio. He was lao a baseball coach for ireensboro High School. Earlier in his career he had itched for the Boston Red Sox or several seasons. He was a graduate of Wake 'orest College, where he re eived his B. S. degree. He eceived his Master Degree in Mathematics and Education at he University of North Caro ina at Chapel HU1.
