Cording told a group meeting at the town hall Friday .night to plan the 75th anniversary of the town that Wallace was incorporated on March 4. 1889. This Is the of ficial date recognized by the town. However in order to enjoy better weather conditions for the celebration it has been mo ved up three wepks and will be held for four days in April April 9, 10, 11 and 12. DR. COL WELL HURT Dr. H.W. Colwell, 73. Wallace optometrist, is in critical con dition in Duplin General Hos pital from a head injury re ceived in an automobile acci dent early Tuesday morning. The accident occurred near the Wallace radio station on High way 117. Kenneth Nethercutt of Chinquapin is reported to have been driving the other car and has been treated and released from the hospital. On Wednesday, Dr. Colwell was transferred to Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill. Women And Legislature Before Voters Tuesday The present law provides that a wife can disinherit her hus band by her will. However, a husband can not disinherit his wife. A proposed amendment to be voted upon Tuesday, Janu ary 14, will abolish the wife's right to do this. At present, a single woman who owns property needs no one's signature to dispose of it, but a married woman own ing property must get her hus band's consent to sell it.
