Mrs. Jule Thomas Matthews Miss Mary Linda Kennedy Weds Jule Thomas Matthews Miss Mary Linda Kennedy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loe nard Kennedy of Beulaville, became the bride of Jule Tho mas Matthews, son of Mrs. Mack Matthews and the late Mr. Matthews of Beulaville, Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the Hallsville Presbyterian Church. The church was decorated with burning tapers, palms and a fan shaped arrangement of white gladiolas, mums, and snapdragons. Rev. Clement A. Sydnor III, pastor of the bride, officiated at the double ring ceremony, assisted by Rev. Harold T. Smith. A program of wedding mus ic was presented by Miss Katie Sue Grady of Rockingham, pia nist, and Miss Barbara Jean Miller ?f Washington, cousin of the bride Soloist, Miss Miller, sang, "Because." "Whither Thou Goest" and the "Wed ding Prayer." The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a formal kown of imported silk and chantilly lace. The bodice was styled with a sabrina neckline trimmed with pearls and slee ves tapering to calla points. The full skirt, fashioned with handmade roses and a tier of chantilly lace, extended into a chapel train. Her fingertip veil of imported silk illusion was at tached to a Queen's crown of pearls. She carried a Bible covered with lace, topped with an orchid and a cascade of mums. Miss Grace Kennedy, sister of the bride was maid of hon or. She wore a dress of royal blue satin styled with a scoop ped neckline, sleeves to the el bow and belled shape skirt. She wore a headpiece of self fabric rosettes with a face veil. Her bouquet was a long white stem rose. Bridesmaids were Miss Sue Kennedy sister of the bride, and Miss Irma Matthews of Cuthbert, Ga. sister of the bridegroom. They wore dress es, headpieces, and carried flowers like that of the honor attendant. Best man was Harold Matt hews of Raleigh, half-brother of the bridegroom. Ushers were LeRoy Kennedy, uncle of the bride, and Robert Matthews of Warsaw, half-brother of the bridegroom. The bride's mother wore a French blue lace sheath dress with matching accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore a brown lace dress with matching accessories. They both wore corsages of white carnations. The couple received in the vestibule of the church, follow ing the ceremony. For a wedding trip to Flori da, Mrs. Matthews wore a white woolen suit with navy ac cessories. Her corsage was an orchid lifted from her bridal boquet. The bride, a graduate of Kings Business College, Ral eigh, is employed by General * Motors Acceptance Corp., Ral eigh. The bridegroom, formely employed with OuPont at Rich mond, Va., is now serving with the U. S. Army at Ft. Bragg. He is a graduate of Beulaville High School. Following the wedding trip the couple will make their home i eigh. " CAKE CUTTING Following the wedding re hearsal Friday evening, Mrs. LeRoy Kennedy entertained the wedding party and close fri ends at a cake cutting at her home . The bridal colors of pink and white were moet attractively carried out. The bridal table was covered with a white lace cloth over pink, and centered with an arrangement of white mums and snapdragons. Bala nced on each side were silver candlelabras holding burning white tapers. The wedding cake, decorated in white and sprinkled with white rose buds, was topped with a miniature bride and groom. After the bride and groom had cut the first slice, Mrs. Ralph Miller finished cut ting the cake from one end of the table. Mrs. Maurice James poured punch from a crystal punch bowel from the opposite end while the hostesses served nuts and mints. Upon arrival, the bride was presented a corsage of white carnations. MISCELLANEOUS SHOWER Miss Mary Linda Kennedy and Mr. Jule Thomas Matt hews, bride and groom to-be, were honored with a miscel laneous shower on Saturday Feb. 1 at 7:30 in the Beulaville Masonic Lodge Hall. The gifts were attractively arranged on a table covered with a white cloth. After games were play ed, they opened the many use ful gifts. Miss Grace Kennedy served punch from a crystal bowl and Miss Sue Kennedy served bridal cakes. Mints and nuts were also served. The table was covered with a white lace cloth over green.
