R. D. Precythe
R. D. Precythe, hardware,
appliances, coal, seed, fertili
zers, vegetable packages, fru
its and produce, Faison. Nor
th Carolina, was organised in
1939. At that time Mr. Robert
sold Smith-Douglass fertilisers,
coal and seed.
Mr. Precythe was inducted
into the Army in October of
1942 and served 3Vi years in
the Pacific with the (1st Infan
try, "Wild Cat Division.'"
Discharged in 1945, he retur
ned to Faison and went back
into business, building the
store adjoining his present
quarters. The present quarters
were purchased from Deems
Clifton in 1953.
Mr. Milton DeLuca, a retir
ed Air Force Major, is book
keeper for the firm, and Mr.
Clement Shines is service man
ager. They sell and service
television sets, radios, refrige
rators and deepfreezes, wash
ing machines, dryers, lawn
mowers, etc.
Mr. Precythe says that he
has handled GE Appliances for
IS years and does not think
that better appliances can be
bought. The supplier to them
of GE products is Walker-Mar
tin Co. of Raleigh. "Your GE
Appliance Dealer" carries a
full line of GE refrigerators,
stoves, televisions, radios, deep
freezers, dryers, built-in ovens
and stoves and anything in the
appliance line.
Odelt Hardware Co. of
Greensboro keeps the firm
suppiled with a full and com
plete line of hardware of high
est quality, but economical in
price.
The firm handles fertilizer
manufactured by the Smith
Douglass Company of Wilming
ton, and paints produced by
the Blue Ridge Paints Co. of
Henry. Virginia. Jeffreys and
Sons of Goldsboro supplies
them with seeds of all types
and varieties, for garden, truck
farmer or field. They handle
insecticides made by Carter of
Wallace.
For twenty-five years, Pre
cvthe has been headquarters
for coal, hard, soft or briquet.
For the builder, they have
cement blocks, brixment, ce
ment and sand and other
building needs.
For the truck and produce
grower, they carry a complete
Faison, N. C.
line of vegetables packages
manufactured by the Riverside
Mfg. Co. of Murfreesboro.
During the months of May.
June and July, R. D. Precythe
buys and distributes produce.
They have their own packing
house and distribute produce
all up and down the East Coast
and as far West as Cincinnati,
Detroit and Chicago. Some 55
people are employed during
the packing season. The vege
tables are packed under their
own three well-known brands
or labels. R. D. P. Brand, Linda
Brand and Jane Brand. These
labels denote quality and fresh
ness in produce wherever they
are sold.
