C. was maid-of honor She wore a street leng th dress of pink chiffon over peau de soie styled with a scooped neckline. The control led bell skirt was fashioned in the back with a bow featuring a rose in the center. Her head piece was a circular nosetip veil of illusion attached to a matching fabric rose similiar to the one on the dress. Her shoes were dyed to match the dress. She carried a crescent bouquet of vanda orchids. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Bir ven Blanchard. Cary, N. C., classmate of the bride and Miss Ann Powell, cousin of the groom. Their dresses and bouquets were identical to the I maid-of-honor The groom's father was his best man. Ushers were Tommy Chestnutt, brother of the bride, and Harry Powell, brother of the groom. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Chestnutt chose a bine lin en dress accented with lace and matching accessories. She wore a white orchid corsage. Mrs. Powell, mother, of the groom, wore a mauve silk shantung dress featuring a princess waistline and a lace bodice. She had matching ac cessories and wore a white or of Preabyterian College and is continuing his wort in physical chemistry at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. PU-UIIAUAL DINNER The Country Squire was the setting for the dinner party given by Mr. and Mrs. George 0. Powell preceding the Chest nuut-Powell rehearsal! on Sat urday night. The bridal flower arrange ment was a mixture of white flowers accented with greenery and centered with three pink i sndlan ^^dinne^consistin^o^fruit ^; MRS. GEORGE LOUIS POWELL chid. Following the ceremony the couple received in the vestibule of the church. For the wedding trip, the bride wore a navy dress with complimentary accessories and the orchid from her bridal bou quet. After a wedding trip to the mountains of western Carolina the couple will live in Carr boro, N. C. Mrs. Powell is a graduate of East Carolina Col lege. Mr. Powell is a graduate salad, roast almond cnicicen, green beans, baked potatoes, hot rolls, and a dessert of glazed orange baskets filled with ice cream was served. CAKE CUTTING Immediately following the rehearsal the bride's parents entertained at a cake cutting in their home on Saturday night. The refreshment table was covered with a white cloth cen tered with an epergn contain ing a narrangement of yellow and white summer flowers. Also nuts and mints were served to SO guests. EARLY MORNING CLUB SUPPER The Early Morning Demon stration club met Friday night August 28 at 7:00 p. m. at Ros coe Jones Cafe for a Dutch Supper. Supper consisted of Turkey with all the trimmings. There were 12 members and 13 guests present. This took " the place of the annual Family Night Picnic.
