decorating throughout the home.

laid with lace, and centered
with a decorated three tiered
cake.
Refreshments consisted of
cake, fruit punch, toasted pe
cans and potato chips.
Approximately 26 persons at
tended. The honored guests
were presented a gift by the
young people's choir.

at Duplin General Hospital.
The business session was
presided over by Mrs. Hazel
Rouse, president. The minutes
of the last meeting were reed

was given by Mrs. Annie Mae
O'Leary, Treasurer.
Plans were made to have
the L.P.N, meet big for Decem
ber 13th at 12 noon where they
will have a luncheon and ex
change gifts. All present are
required to bring a small gift.

County Electric Building In

ford. Chairman of Project Free
Enterprise, brief the partici
pants on all the facets of the
project. The project Is sche
duled for November 16 and will
culminate Its activities at the
Free Enterprise Banquet held at
the Goldsboro Motor Hotel.
LOCAL SCOUTS APPROVED
FOR WORLD JAMBOREE
Six Boy Scouts and Explorers
have been approved to attend the
World Jamboree as representa
tives of the Tuscarora Council,
B.S.A., N. H. Carter, member
of the Council world Jamboree
committee, announced today.
The world Jamboree will be
held at Farragut State Park
Idaho, from August 1 to 9,
1967, the first time that the
Boy Scouts of America have

visited his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. LeRoy Simmons Tuesday
niht. The new baby girl, Bar
bara Suzanne, was also present.
CHURCH NEWS
Rev. Hood had a fine mes
sage Sunday night at the Pres
byterian Churcn. He spoke from
John 21, the topic being "Christ
Questions Peter Concerning His
Love." Mr. Hood brought out
that the Lord knows If we love
Him, or If It's Just Up service.
The church shouldn't be re

He brought out that lost sheep
can never find that hole they
escaped through, but have to
have someone lead them back

were interviewed locally, and
their applications were re
viewed by a special committee
representing Region 6 of the Boy
Scouts of America before being
approved.

World Jamboree, the Cub Scout
packs. Boy Scout troops, and
Explorer posts in the Duplin
District will hold friendship
campfires as a part of a world
wide observance of the 60th
anniversary of the founding of
Scouting. The first Boy Scout
camp was held as an experi
ment on Brownsea Island, off
the coast of England, from Au
gust 1 to 9, 1907, Carter said.
Carter explained that in addi
tion to meeting age and Scout
rank requirements, the World
jamboree Scouts are proficient
in campcraft, have a general
knowledge of world conditions
and the history of the united
States, and are able to state
clearly the fundamental prin
ciples on which the united States
was founded.

wood Turner is suffering from
a sore neck and chest. The
rest of the party had skinned
legs. They believe that a sign
post saved their lives. They
would have turned over and over
if It hadn't been for the sign
post. Mrs. Lynwood Turner
said to me this morning that
"it's only by the Grace of God
that they all were alive!"

Etta Turner left for New York
City Monday morning at 7 p.m.
